Chat Transcript

Week 10 brings us the start of Thursday night action, making the prep week that much shorter for Fantasy owners.

Senior Fantasy Writer Jamey Eisenberg will stop by and answer your waiver wire questions and anything else on your mind on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. ET.

Feel free to submit a question now or stop by Tuesday afternoon!

11/10 Chat with Jamey Eisenberg
(11/10 15:01 PM) Hey guys, let's get this chat started. Remember, the last 10 minutes will be rapid fire for all of your Start 'Em and Sit 'Em questions. Let's go ...
(11/10 15:01 PM) Matt, Auburn - Hi Jamey. Very tired of Matt Ryan - just not getting it done as a starter. Love my depth at RB but we only play 2 and I have to trade one of my big 3 away to get a better QB now that byes are over. Who would you send away of Pierre Thomas, SJax, Benson? I've already got one offer of Brady for Ryan and Benson. If I could get Rodgers instead would that be better? Any thoughts appreciated.
(11/10 15:03 PM) I would rank them Benson, Jackson, Thomas, so if you want to send Thomas and Ryan for Brady that's a good move, depending on what you would have to give up for Rodgers. Those are the kind of moves that win championships. Good job.
(11/10 15:03 PM) Alex Wernikoff, Charlotte,NC - I own both Tony Gonzalez and Greg Olsen? Who should I trade and what type of RB and WR should I look to acquire?
(11/10 15:04 PM) You should trade Olsen now while his value is so high after the three touchdown game. You should look to acquire a RB with similar value like a Tim Hightower or maybe even look at Steve Slaton since someone is probably down on him. At wide receiver, you're probably looking at a Donald Driver, Braylon Edwards type of move for someone's third option.
(11/10 15:04 PM) Jon, Burlington,, NC - What do you think of this blockbuster trade? Peyton Manning, Wes Welker and Darren Sproles for Cedric Benson, Tim Hightower, and Joe Flacco.
(11/10 15:05 PM) Seems like a fair trade. If you need a WR, the side with Welker did great, especially the upgrade at QB. And the side getting Benson did well also in getting a stud RB with some depth.
(11/10 15:05 PM) Anyone here have any interest in holding onto Larry Johnson? It's a big debate between myself and Dave Richard. I say dump him, he says he's worth a roster spot. Share your thoughts here please and I will post it.
(11/10 15:06 PM) Eugene P, Tampa, FL - I'm in a 14 team league and took a big hit when D. Owens went down. Picked up Scheffler but would like to upgrade if possible. Might be able to trade M Sims-Walker for T. Heap. Already have V Jackson and R. White as my 2 WR's. Anyone off the waiver wire a better pick up? Thanks!
(11/10 15:06 PM) You'd be giving up too much in that trade. You can probably get Greg Olsen or Kellen Winslow for Sims-Walker. Look for a Fred Davis, Kevin Boss or Dustin Keller off the waiver wire if they are still out there.
(11/10 15:07 PM) Dookie, Beantown - I have extra roster space... who's the better pickup: Betts or LJ?
(11/10 15:07 PM) As stated above, LJ has no value in my opinion. Betts is the hot pickup of the week. Definitely grab him.
(11/10 15:08 PM) charles, Nyc - Ive been offered Maroney for Shockey, I have the TE depth to make this trade but is Maroney going to fall of the face of the fantasy earth if Morris and Taylor return?
(11/10 15:08 PM) If you have the depth to make this trade, then do it. Maroney should continue to run well, and as long as he's productive and doesn't have fumble issues, he will get his share of touches. You'll always want more RB depth then TE depth anyway.
(11/10 15:09 PM) Daniel, Toronto - Who is the bona fide number one WR in Minn - Harvin, Rice or Berrian?
(11/10 15:09 PM) Looks like Rice. He has the most big-play ability, and Favre seems to go to him in the big spots.
(11/10 15:09 PM) Ricky Williams, Denver,CO - Should I continue to start MSW even with the tuff matchup against Revis who has shut down everyone my other option is Jerricho Cotchery
(11/10 15:10 PM) You have no idea how ironic this question is. You'll find out later in the week, Ricky, how much we love the real Ricky Williams this week and would avoid Sims-Walker because of Revis and he's on the road.
(11/10 15:10 PM) Rob, Peru, NY - My current QB's are Matt Ryan and Kyle Orton who are both struggling. Should I be patient with them going forward or look to pickup a QB with a trade? I'm looking at trying to make a move for Eli Manning or Carson Palmer who's owners have said they are available. I really like Palmer's schedule going forward and the potential he has for a lot of points. I am also thinking of offering Ryan and either Welker or Hines Ward for Brett Favre. (I have Larry Fitzgerald as my other starting WR) Is that too much to offer for his services and would it be worth it to me to make the move or sit tight with Ryan and Orton?
(11/10 15:11 PM) I think you're talking about quarterbacks of similar production with Ryan, Eli, Palmer and Favre. If you are going to offer a WR like Welker or Ward and Ryan you need to do better than Favre. See if you can pull off something like that for Rodgers or Schaub.
(11/10 15:12 PM) Jason, Phoenix - Roddy White and Matt Forte for Pierre Thomas and Roy Williams. Deal or no deal?
(11/10 15:12 PM) I'd rather have White and Forte
(11/10 15:12 PM) rob, phoenix,az - how can you omit calvin johnson from the top 50 receivers in your rankings this week. i know he didn't have a good game, but he did see 9 targets on sunday, that should be good enough to make the top 50.also, where's eddie royal, you advised me to keep him earlier this year and now he can't even crack the top 50, you sure you know what your doing? looks like your throwing darts.
(11/10 15:13 PM) Calvin and Royal are both ranked. Look again. Not sure when you saw the rankings, but we update them every Tuesday morning
(11/10 15:13 PM) Jen, PA - I had Owen Daniels and picked up Fred Taylor. Would Watson, Cooley or Keller be a better option? They are on the waiver.
(11/10 15:14 PM) Not sure where Fred Taylor factors in, but Keller is the best option of this trio until Cooley returns.
(11/10 15:14 PM) Josh, Lexington, KY - PLEASE HELP. I am 7-2 in a 12 team standard scoring league. I have Rice and Turner, but my WR's are suspect with Burrelson being the only number 1 guy. Peyton Manning is my QB, with Henne as my back up. Should I think about trading Manning just incase he is held out for rest during the last couple of weeks? Or do you think that was just a T. Dungy thing?
(11/10 15:14 PM) You can't trade Manning unless you get a stud QB and a WR of starting caliber in return. Keep Manning and try to make some moves to get a WR.
(11/10 15:15 PM) Darkstar, Chicago, IL - Ive been offered Calvin Johnson for Matt Forte. I have Westbrook, McCoy, and Mendenhall as well. Take the trade?
(11/10 15:15 PM) It seems like you can take the hit at RB, so yes get Calvin and hope he turns it around with a strong second half.
(11/10 15:15 PM) Matt Schaub, Houston, TX - Hey Jamey - Who do you like best as a bye week replacement for me: Sanchez (vs. JAC), Alex Smith (vs CHI), Matt Ryan (vs CAR), or Cassel (vs OAK)?
(11/10 15:16 PM) Check the rankings for this, but my order is Ryan, Smith and Sanchez. I'd stay away from Cassel this week.
(11/10 15:16 PM) not buying, into the hype - What's the deal with Crabtree? He was supposed to have a great game, but only made 3 points. Is he gonna do anything for me? I started him over Donald Driver, and missed 10 points. I still won, but the point remains.
(11/10 15:16 PM) He's a rookie WR, and they tend to be inconsistent. I like him this week against the Bears, especially if Tommie Harris doesn't play.
(11/10 15:17 PM) brian, cleveland, ohio - I have A.P. and C.Johnson at rb. i have Housh, Boldin and Maclin at wr. do i trade one of the rbs to upgrade at wr or just roll with what i have. i think i could get P.Thomas and MSW for one of the rbs. need help thanks
(11/10 15:17 PM) That would be a good trade if you can get a starting RB and WR for Johnson, and you migth even be able to do better if you shop them around. That said, you're going to outscore most people almost every week. You might want to stand pat and wait on Boldin's health to see if he comes back soon.
(11/10 15:18 PM) Jamey you the MAN!!, chicago - Jamey, How would you rank these guys for flex spot this week Boldin, Breaston, Kevin Smith, Betts. Gotta play 2.
(11/10 15:18 PM) Thanks. I'd rank them Betts, Breaston, Smith, Boldin.
(11/10 15:19 PM) Spartan Jones, Denver, CO - Is it time to trade Megatron and who should I target for him? I'm only slightly weak at WR.
(11/10 15:19 PM) I'd wait on trading him if you can. Let him have a good game and see if he's back since you can't get fair value for him now. And if he plays well, then you might want to keep him with the hope he's back at 100 percent.
(11/10 15:20 PM) StairwaytoSeven, Pittsburgh, PA - Hey Jamie, thanks for the help. Would you trade R. Grant/Welker for C. Johnson? My other WRs are R. Moss, D. Driver, B. Berrian and N. Washington. My other RB is D. Williams.
(11/10 15:21 PM) I'd rather have Welker and Grant. Not sure which Johnson it is with Calvin or Chris, but either way you have a more solid lineup with Grant and Welker.
(11/10 15:21 PM) Billy Squier, Janesville, WI - Will Steve Slaton become a fantasy 1 or 2 option by the end of the season?
(11/10 15:22 PM) Hard to say if he'll get back to being a No. 1 option, but I would try to trade for him now if you can. You can probably get him real cheap, and that's good value.
(11/10 15:22 PM) richard, Dallas, TX - Hey Jamey. My only QB is Matt Ryan, and I realize he is no longer an every wk starter. Just made offer to trade for Kurt Warner, I admit a risky move, but, has a great schedule going forward. I'm trading Ryan and L.Betts for Warner. FYI, guy who has Warner also has Palmer and Portis. Good move?? Thanks.
(11/10 15:22 PM) That's a good trade. You are upgrading at QB and giving up a spare part in Betts. I hope it works out for you.
(11/10 15:22 PM) JP, NC - Jamey, A ownere in my league wants to get rid of AP. I'm going to offer him P. Thomas and S-jax for AP. I also have Benson and MJD. I think this will solidfy the Playoffs for me. We start 2 RB's, 2 WR's and A Flex. Standard scoring. What do you think?
(11/10 15:23 PM) Very solid trade, and I'm shocked you have all that talent at RB. But yes, that's a great 2-for-1 trade.
(11/10 15:23 PM) bman, Ottawa Ontario - Had Daniels, picked up Fred Davis. Should I drop him for Keller or Watson for the rest of the year? I'm looking good for the playoffs BTW (7-2) so planning starters for weeks 15/16.
(11/10 15:24 PM) Keller is probably the better option since Cooley could return. They are all in the same boat really and will be hit or miss most weeks.
(11/10 15:24 PM) Matt, Newberg, OR - Should I trade Steven Jackson for Frank Gore? I like Gores schedule more the rest of the year, what do you think?
(11/10 15:24 PM) You are looking at similar running backs, but Gore obviously will score more than Jackson. So yes, that's a good trade.
(11/10 15:25 PM) Mike, Gainesville, FL - first i just want to say GO GATORS! second, i just got Deangelo Williams and hes been tearing it up for me but im afraid of his playoff schedule going up against Vikes and NYG. would he still be a must start? and are mike sims walker(@NYJ) and vincent jackson(PHI) must starts this week and pretty much every week now?
(11/10 15:25 PM) Go Gators will always get my attention when sifting through the questions. Williams should be fine. It's hard to bench him no matter the opponent. Jackson is a must-start, Sims-Walker not so much.
(11/10 15:25 PM) Lucky Benson Owner, Latham, NY - I'm trying to decide between Benson and Ronnie Brown this week. I know you have your rankings for questions like these, but you and Dave Richard disagree quite a bit on these two this week. You have Brown ranked 4th, 8 spots ahead of Benson, while Dave had Brown ranked just below Benson at #12. Why is that?
(11/10 15:26 PM) It's just the matchup. Benson has run over everyone, but he faced the Steelers without Polamalu the last time, which makes a difference. Brown has a tremendous matchup against the Bucs, and I like him better. I would start Brown over Benson this week.
(11/10 15:26 PM) Belinda, Hinsdale, IL - In order to put in a waiver claim for L. Betts, I would need to drop S. Greene, W. Parker or L. Johnson in a .5 ppr, 14-team league. Of this group, who do you think has the least value through Week 14? My other RBs are M. Forte and C. Benson.
(11/10 15:27 PM) This is easy. Drop LJ. He's not going to do anything for a Fantasy owner the rest of this year. No team that signs him is going to give him the majority of touches.
(11/10 15:27 PM) billy, benton, AK - Would you rather have Z. Miller or J. Carlson in a .5 ppr league for the rest of the season?
(11/10 15:28 PM) Carlson has been such a bust this year because of the Seattle offensive line issues. That said, he has the better QB, and I'd rather stick with that with the hope he turns things around.
(11/10 15:28 PM) Scott, Derwood, MD - Hey Jamey! I have a DST question. I have the Cowboys DST, but the Titans DST is on waivers and they face the Bills at home. Do you think I should go for the Titans DST or ride the Cowboys?
(11/10 15:28 PM) I'd stick with the Cowboys this week. They are facing a Packers offensive line that can't protect Aaron Rodgers, and DeMarcus Ware should have a field day.
(11/10 15:28 PM) Barry, Barrow, Alaska - Looks like you don't like Sims-Walker much this week. Why not? You prefer B. Edwards and D. Driver better as No. 2 and No. 3 WRs this week?
(11/10 15:29 PM) Sims-Walker meet Revis. That's tough.
(11/10 15:29 PM) Struggling, Must win, CA - Going forward which duo would you rather have : mcnabb/s.smith (nyg) or flacco/r.white? Also is lynch going to disappoint me ad nauseam?
(11/10 15:29 PM) McNabb-Smith, and Lynch should start to play like a No. 2 Fantasy RB, yes.
(11/10 15:30 PM) Jethro, Chicago, IL - TRADE QUESTION I have 4 good WRs in Roddy White, Calvin Johnson, Chad OchoCinco and Donald Driver. I have one good RB1 in Ray Rice and then have so so RBs in Ryan Grant, Steve Slaton and Beanie Wells. With that said, I'd like to upgrade at RB. Thoughts on dealing R.Grant for M.Forte and dealing OchoCinco for Pierre Thomas?
(11/10 15:31 PM) I think you can make that happen. Forte actually isn't an upgrade over Grant, but I would trade 85 for Thomas since you can take the hit at WR. That would make your team a little more solid.
(11/10 15:31 PM) hendo, Abbotsford Canada - hey Jamey hopefully you will answer this Canadian questiob but seeing westy is well questionable again who would you start charles at oakland, moreno at the deadskins or maclin at chargers or royal at skins as flex?
(11/10 15:32 PM) I'd hope for Westbrook if I were you. Go with Charles of this group based on his upside and the matchup.
(11/10 15:32 PM) Jamey Eisenberg, CBSSports.com - Jamey - you're in a league that requires you to start 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and one flex. You have AP and Ray Rice at RB, but not much else (unless Julius Jones and Laurence Maroney sound appealing to you). At WR, you have Colston, Steve Smith NY, Santonio, S. Rice, and Bowe. Do you try to trade Colston for Mendenhall with an owner stacked at RB but weak at WR, or do you stick with your WRs/Jones/Maroney at your last flex spot? Don't let yourself down, Jamey.
(11/10 15:33 PM) I can't let myself down. I'd rather keep Colston and try to trade Bowe, Smith or Holmes for a lesser RB like Addai, Slaton or Hightower.
(11/10 15:34 PM) jack, ga - what do u think of matt cassell rest of th year
(11/10 15:34 PM) I think he's a No. 2 QB that you can play when the matchup is right. I would bench him this week against the Raiders.
(11/10 15:34 PM) Kevin, Riverview, MI - I have DeWilliams & JStewart as my rb's. Been offered LT and Hakeem Nicks for Calvin Johnson. My other WR's are Reggie Wayne, Ocho and Mike Wallace.. Should I make this trade?
(11/10 15:35 PM) That's not going to help you much, but at least you're getting a RB who is getting the majority of touches. LT isn't great, but that's still good value.
(11/10 15:35 PM) John, Baltimore - Jamey, which one of these trades would you do, if either: 1) Greg Jennings for Boldin? or 2) Wes Welker and Manningham for Calvin Johnson and Boldin? I have Jennings and Welker. It is a PPR league which makes Welker a beast but is that offer too good to pass up? Thnkas for your help!
(11/10 15:36 PM) I'd stand pat. Jennings will come around, and you're right about Welker.
(11/10 15:36 PM) Jamey's Smarter Than Dave, Canada - I have DeAngelo Williams, Bradshaw and Jacobs, and Shonn Greene at RB. The Giant twins are causing me major grief and are also on a bye this week. Guys like McGahee, Sproles, Fargas and McFadden are all on waivers but I'm wondering if I should try and establish a trade. I have Crabtree, Collie, Cotchery, Breaston, Burleson, Hester and Colston at WR. Do you have any advice?
(11/10 15:37 PM) That's not true. Dave and I are equally smart or something like that. I think you can try to trade Hester or Burleson for an upgrade at RB. Maybe you can target the Jones owner and offer him Hester/Burleson and Greene for a RB if he has one to spare.
(11/10 15:38 PM) Andrew, Tampa - I am 2nd in waiver order and I was originally going to go get Shonne Greene and stash him but Larry Johnson is out there, do you think he is worth it over Greene? I have Benson, R Brown, Julius Jones and LT but wanted a bit more insurance, your thoughts?
(11/10 15:38 PM) Go Greene. It's better for the environment.
(11/10 15:38 PM) Ivor, Dublin, Ireland - Jamie, I never get any love from either you or Dave! Whats that all about mate? Anyway Quarterback this week. McNabb or Sanchez? Flex M Lynch or Bowe, DST Bengals, Dolphins or 49ers?. Would you trade M Lynch for R Moats??Cheers Jamie
(11/10 15:39 PM) Here you go: McNabb, Lynch, Dolphins and keep Lynch.
(11/10 15:40 PM) rob, clermont, fl - Jamey Please help with this trade! I was offered Cedric benson for McNabb and jacobs! I have rodgers at qb1 so i think I can afford to trade Mcnabb. My other rb's are Deangelo, brown, hightower and LJ. So I can afford to trade jacobs. i really wanna get a solid backup at rb for my playoff weeks cause i am in first at 7 and 2, but I am sure u are aware of deangelo's playoff schedule. So do I make this deal? thanks in advance
(11/10 15:40 PM) Yeah, make the deal. You have the depth to cover the losses in a 1-for-2 trade, and Benson is a clear upgrade over Jacobs.
(11/10 15:41 PM) Brianna, Burlington,Ontario,Canada - I have been offered Ronnie Brown for Austin Miles. However it leaves me with a hole at wide receiver. Should I hit the accept button before my trade partner comes to his senses and hope one of my waiver pick ups at wide receiver be available or wait?
(11/10 15:41 PM) If you can make up for the loss of Austin, then do it. Brown has a great schedule the rest of the way, and teams will start to figure out that Austin is the guy to cover for the Cowboys.
(11/10 15:42 PM) Greg, Canton Ohio - Hasselbeck is hit or miss. I really don't have a lot of options (no trading & FA list is thin) what do you see him doing this week against the Cards.
(11/10 15:43 PM) I'd stay away from Hasselbeck this week if you can. I don't like this shoulder injury now, he was terrible against the Cardinals the last time around and he's not great on the road.
(11/10 15:43 PM) Stu, Danville, CA - Got some trouble at WR with Collie having the injury. Wondering if Chambers is worth a look to plugin this week?
(11/10 15:43 PM) Chambers is definitely worth a look, but Collie should play this week. I'd still rather have Collie.
(11/10 15:43 PM) Zenophobe, Los Angeles, CA - I saw you have Rivers rated higher then Rothlesburger this week but Dave has the reverse. Will Rivers upside be worth the risk or should I play it safe with Big Ben. Thanks!
(11/10 15:44 PM) I would find it hard to bench Rivers most weeks. He is going to have a nice day with Antonio Gates since the Eagles can't stop the tight end.
(11/10 15:44 PM)Jer, San Jose, Ca - Do you trust Mendhall as a RB 2 for the reast of the season?
(11/10 15:45 PM) Absolutely. Look what he did last night against the Broncos. He's capable of that most weeks.
(11/10 15:45 PM)Kevin, Philly - Will Roy Williams finally begin to produce?
(11/10 15:45 PM) He should come around once teams start rolling coverage toward Austin. But he'll only be a No. 3 Fantasy WR at best.
(11/10 15:45 PM)Jason, Nebraska - Thoughts on gettin Maroney and Packers DST for the Vikings DST?
(11/10 15:46 PM) That's a solid trade. The Vikings DST is obviously better, but you're getting fairvalue with a RB and a Top 10 DST in return.
(11/10 15:46 PM)SKing, Hastings, MN - What is your take on Kolby Smith, I'm looking to pick up another rb. Charles and Betts have been picked up already. I'm looking for a rb with the most upside in weeks ahead.
(11/10 15:46 PM) Smith is a sneaky option. He could be solid if the Chiefs give him the majority of touches, but don't drop anyone of worth for him. He's still No. 2 for the Chiefs.
(11/10 15:47 PM)TC, New York - With his recent struggles, will Derrick Mason be a viable #2 or #3 wideout the rest of the way?
(11/10 15:47 PM) He's only really struggled against the Bengals. Those games are done, so stick with Mason as no worse than a No. 3 option,.
(11/10 15:47 PM)Matt, Biloxi - I need a tight end now with Owen Daniel and Chris Cooley out. I'm fairly deep at RB and WR...Gore, Addai, Jacobs and C.Williams. At WR I have Welker, Breaston, Holmes, and Manningham. Would a trade of C.Williams and M.Manningham for Tony Gonzales be a good trade?
(11/10 15:48 PM) Yeah, make that move. You'll never start Williams with those other RB options, and the same goes for Manningham going forward.
(11/10 15:48 PM)Nate, DC - Larry J is a great pickup if you have roster room, a playoff caliber team will pick him up as insurance. Pats????????
(11/10 15:48 PM)Kevin L, Philly - Holding LJ for now.
(11/10 15:48 PM)Aaron, Seattle, Wa - Dump LJ!!
(11/10 15:49 PM)Jim, Pittsburgh - Keep Larry Johnson if he gets on a team with an oline he can help you out
(11/10 15:49 PM)rich, melbourne, fl - No way LJ is worth a roster spot. If anything you can pick him up again later in the season, but even if he does sign with a descent team, he won't see any significant action or make an impact. Tell Dave to go ahead and drop Marvin Harrison and Plaxico too.
(11/10 15:49 PM)Krisitn, Clearwater, FL - LJ is a cancer and does not deserve a roster spot regardless of where he ends up - whether it be Washington or NE - you can't trust any of those teams RBs.
(11/10 15:49 PM)Chris Jones, Denver, CO - I've thought LJ was a bust from day one this season. The only way he'd be worth holding onto is if he got a great O-line. I don't think there are and quality O-line teams currently looking for a RB. Drop him or trade for a kicker.
(11/10 15:49 PM)Josh, Los Angeles - L.J. has absolutely no value in my eyes, he's a behavior risk, and needs a sitter. His value will be even more non existent if he gets his way and goes to Pittsburgh
(11/10 15:49 PM)nathan, chicago, il - i think you keep LJ. I feel like the waiver wires are pretty bare when it comes to running backs, and who knows if a team will pick him up and turn him into a solid RB2.
(11/10 15:50 PM) Just wanted to post some of the LJ thoughts. Nice work. That's our Faceoff topic this week, so check it out.
(11/10 15:50 PM) OK, rapid fire. GO!
(11/10 15:50 PM)Confused In Denver, Denver, CO - Going forward who do you see being more affective? Sidney RIce or Steve Breaston?
(11/10 15:50 PM) Rice
(11/10 15:50 PM)Kevin L, Philly - Should I sit Frank Gore this week?
(11/10 15:50 PM) No, especially if Harris is out for the Bears.
(11/10 15:51 PM)Jack, Mississippi - Pick up Maurice Morris or Kolby Smith. Both possible on making an impact ??
(11/10 15:51 PM) Smith
(11/10 15:51 PM)John, Boston Ma - Favre or Rivers this week Jamey?
(11/10 15:51 PM) Rivers
(11/10 15:51 PM)charles, chicago, il - calvin johnson for tim hightower?
(11/10 15:51 PM) Hightower
(11/10 15:51 PM)Daniel, Arlington, TX - What up Jamey. Which running back Beanie Wells or Laurence Maroney?
(11/10 15:51 PM) Maroney
(11/10 15:51 PM)nasser, atlanta ga - as flex who would you start LT or maclin or viking's rice
