 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Good afternoon and Happy New Year! Welcome to our first Fantasy Football chat of 2010, and our last Friday Fantasy Football chat of the season. I'm here to help you guys with your lineups for Week 17. A lot of you have questions about who may or may not play from the teams with playoff spots locked up. Here's my take on what to expect from the seven teams with playoff spots essentially locked up heading into Week 17: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyfootball/story/12731810 ... also, I am starting a Playoff Challenge league open to everyone -- you can sign up for it through this tinyURL: http://bit.ly/58linv
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) If you have a Fantasy 'start or sit' question, just check out my rankings at: http://bit.ly/vZNx5 and you will find your answer fast! You won't have to wait for me to answer your question!
(12/31 19:00 PM) Scott, Parker, CO - So I picked up Brandon Jackson do you think that is a good idea for Ryan Grant, or will Grant play more than I think? Thanks, happy new year
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I like it, Scott. Jackson is one of four RBs I like to be big surprises in Week 17. The others (in order I like them) are: Mike Tolbert, Lynell Hamilton and Mike Hart.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Rodger, Fl - Happy New Year Dave, at QB start Flacco or Young, at WR start 3 of the following, Nicks / Collie / TO / Gaffney / Maclin
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Same to you Rodger. I'd go with Flacco at QB. Both teams will run a lot, though. I'd start Nicks, TO and Gaffney. As you might have read here on the site, the Broncos have ruled out both Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler for their Week 17 game against the Chiefs, so Gaffney could be valuable.
(12/31 19:00 PM) jared, nj - i have bengals and jets defense whu do i start
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I'd go with the Jets. The Bengals are unlikely to play a full game with their starters.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Maxx, San Antone - Please pick the best 5 to play--2RB/3WR or 3RB/2WR----Jerome Harrison, J Stew, Forsett, Mike Bell, Fitz, Colston, Aromashodu, Cotchery, Britt----Thanks and Happy New Year
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Maxx, I'd go with Harrison, Stewart (DeAngelo Williams is doubtful), Aromashodu, Cotchery and Forsett.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Kimble, Gilbert, AZ - Hey Dave, Happy New Year. Please pick 3 RB's: Stewart, Forsett, Snelling, Maroney, Wells
(12/31 19:00 PM) Kimble, Gilbert, AZ - Pick 2 WR's: Fitz, A Johnson, Driver, Smith nyg, Mason, Morgan
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) How about a two-fer for Kimble?! First question: I'd start Stewart, Snelling and Forsett. No telling what kind of time Maroney and Wells will have. Second question: Johnson and Smith are your WRs.
(12/31 19:00 PM) ABX, Denver - Cutler, Orton, or Alex Smith this last week
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I'd go with Cutler, who should pad his stats against a terrible Lions defense in Week 17.
(12/31 19:00 PM) mike, cleveland - hi, happy new year! championship game, need 1, smith, ryan, or young. passing 25yd=1pt, td=6, running 10yd=1pt, td=6pt. no deduction for errors. also the saints vs panthers, or bears vs lions, which defense. thanks for the help this year.
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Happy 2010 to you, MIke. I'd go with Smith at QB and the Bears DST against the Lions.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Kenny, Philadelphia - I need one for the start: Forsett, Bradshaw, Caddy Williams, or Tolbert, ?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Bradshaw is listed as questionable for his game, which bugs me a little bit. Williams has a decent matchup. I think one of those two is your guy and seeing as how Williams has the better matchup, that's who you should go with. If Bradshaw were a lock to play, I'd be inclined to go with him. I'm not sure how he will hold up against the Vikings.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Ellwood, Buffalo, NY - Hi Dave!! Is Jabar Gaffney now a must start?? Now that no more Marshal?
(12/31 19:00 PM) Ellwood, Buffalo, NY - Hey Dave!! QB question. I can start 2 QBs in my league. I have Brady and Vince Young. Planning on Brady. Will he really play a whole game. Or should I snatch someone like Billy Volek?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) A double-header for Elwood! I do think Brady has a decent shot to play around a half, maybe three quarters. The Patriots have not rested him much, if at all. But I will tell you that Young is SAFER just because he should play a lot. Read more on Brady here: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyfootball/story/12731810 ... and I wouldn't call Gaffney a MUST-start, but that matchup sure looks good. He's a real safe No. 3 Fantasy WR.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Majik, BigD - Would you have Larry Fitz in your lineup initially ---- playing him only if the Vikes lose in their early game --but if they win drop Larry and play either Britt or Cotchery (which one)
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I'd go with Cotchery there. I don't see Tennessee throwing much. They want to get Chris Johnson over 2,000 rush yards.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Rick, CT - Orton or Rodgers???
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Yuck. I think Orton is still safest. No telling how much time we'll get from Rodgers.
(12/31 19:00 PM) JARED, VOORHESS NJ - in keeper league and can keep one.
who do i
jonathan stewart v-jax or pierre thomas
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) As of now I think Stewart is the better keeper Jared. But I do like Thomas' skills. We'll have time to revisit this one heading into 2010. I would not be surprised to see the Panthers trade DeAngelo Williams.
(12/31 19:00 PM) JB, atlanta - start r moss, fitz or aromashodu and celek?
(12/31 19:00 PM) jb, atlanta - warner or campbell?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) A double-dip for JB! I'd start Moss and Celek, though if you're not as risky as I am Aromashodu is the way to go. Moss almost certainly won't play a full game but the Patriots typically play their starters for a while. And at QB, I'd go Warner if the Vikings lose, Campbell if the Vikings win.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Santonio Holmes, Steel City,PA - Will I blow it up this week and see the end zone? What kinda day you see me having?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Santonio, I think you'll do just fine. Great matchup against the Dolphins' weak secondary. You should score well for Fantasy owners.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Scott, Nashville, TN - Do you like Tolbert even more than Sproles?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Absolutely. Sproles is a big part of what the Chargers do. I would be surprised to see him get even five touches. Tolbert is a guy I really like this week.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Dave L, Culver City, CA - Happy New Year! Playing for closest total points title in our league's 15 year history (I have 2 point). Which RB2: Mike Bell, Maurice Morris or CedBen? And which 2 WR: Donald Driver, Devin Aromashodu or Mohammed Massaquoi? I know not great but it's week 17 of a fun year...thank you for your great work!
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Hey Dave, happy new year to you too. I'd go with Morris at RB and Aromashodu and Massaquoi at receiver. I like both of those WRs a bunch this week.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Peter, Boston - I'm in a keeper league for the first time and can only pick 2. My first two draft picks were Drew Brees and Calvin Johnson, who I assumed I would keep. But, I also have Ryan Grant and Beanie Wells, who I have seen ahead of both Brees and CJ in early 2010 ranks. Who do I keep?!
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Very tough call. For now, I think Brees is a must-keep to protect that important QB spot. I like Grant next year -- the Packers' schedule is going to be fairly easy and they'll improve along the offensive line. If Tim Hightower gets traded or something I might take Wells, but as of now I like Grant better.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Fred Jackson, Buffalo, NY - I'm hungry for 1000 yards and get to play 2nd stringers in Indy, but does that make me a better flex then D. Aromashodu and Both RB Morris's?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Indeed it does, Fred. I like you as a solid No. 2 Fantasy running back. Go nuts this week!
(12/31 19:00 PM) Jack Tripper, Burlington,ON,Canada - Where do you see Jerome Harrison being ranked in 2010?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Tough to say since he's going to have a crack at free agency (as a restricted player, anyway). I don't know if he'll be in Cleveland. For now let's consider him a pick between Rounds 6 and 7.
(12/31 19:00 PM) New Year Sam, Fl - Ricky or Tolbert for my #2 back this week
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) It's a risk either way. Ricky should play against the Steelers and see a full game, so I can say that he's safer. But his matchup is far worse than Tolbert's. I would tell you to go with Williams since Tolbert's playing time is unknown. If you've got the guts, and maybe you can take a risk with your lineup, then Tolbert is worth a look.
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I apologize for that delay, folks ... let's get back to the chat.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Ryan, Seattle - With Marshall out....PLEASE pick one...MSW, Crabtree or Royal???
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I think Crabtree is the safest pick. Royal has been very inconsistent and Sims-Walker is bad on the road (one TD all year).
(12/31 19:00 PM) J Saff, Chicago, IL - This is our finals...week 17....need to play either Colston or Aromadusu
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) This is why I don't like finals in Week 17. Colston gets you through the year but you'll have to go with Aromashodu to win the game. I don't like that much. That's what you have to do, though, since Colston is not guaranteed much playing time.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Matt, Clifton park - Happy new years
better keeper next year ced benson or beanie wells?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Hey Matt. Happy New Years to you and your bride. I'd go with Benson. Solid Top-20 pick next season; Wells is a notch behind.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Kj1974, Riverview,MI - Any new features for the 2010 Fantaasy Football product. Or is it too early to know of new features for next year?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Hey KJ. Good to see you buddy. Yes, there will be some new features for 2010, but I can't tell just yet. We have some MONSTER ideas, though. You guys will love it, including those of you who use Twitter (and you can follow me on Twitter @daverichard, and follow Detroit's most insane sports fan @KJ1974)
(12/31 19:00 PM) Jakob, Gilbert, AZ - I have Stewart starting and need 2 more from Charles, Mendenhall, Snelling, Forsett, Delo
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Nice group Jakob! I'd start Charles and Mendenhall. Both will play a full game.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Norcal Dave, Danville, Ca - Hey Dave - Happy New Year - Should i go with M Tolbert over C Benson at RB, and I just picked up Gaffney, would you play him over Cotchery or J Morgan?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I wouldn't play Gaffney over Cotchery or Morgan. I like both of those guys better (Cotchery over Morgan). And I would expect Benson to rest up for the playoffs, so Tolbert seems safer at this juncture.
(12/31 19:00 PM) raiderfan714, Vinceenes,IN - Hello Dave ...Happy New Year!!! Defensive question...Jets or Bills?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Love the Jets DST this week. The Bills are only usable in deeper leagues as a replacement option.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Champ Bailey, Denver, CO - I think I'm going to shut down Dwayne Bowe Sunday, but he will still see a lot of looks as the no. 1 receiver. Should I play him, Hakeem Nicks or Percy Harvin in my PPR league?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Hey, Champ. Congrats on a great career. I'd rather have Nicks against a depleted Vikings secondary on Sunday.
(12/31 19:00 PM) @JosephDBrown on twitter, Quincy ma - Thanks again Dave for all your help this year Now that i won i need some help with keepersi can keep three out of 19 we keep players By when you originally drafted them i am keeping Brady 1st rnd( 2007 ) CJ 11th rnd (2008) so my other choices are Djax 5th Calvin 7th Forsett 19th Crabtree 18th 2 questions who would u keep and do you think this system is good or bad? sorry for long question
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Hey Joe. I'm not sure I'd keep Brady with the first-round pick. You'll be able to find a QB in the draft later, even if every other stud passer is being kept. As of now I think Jackson as a 5th and Calvin as a 7th are excellent choices. Time will tell on Forsett and Crabtree, but they have exceptional value based on where you'd keep them.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Mike, Jacksonville, Florida - I have Fitz and Jennings and I think I need to dump both. Aromashodu is taken, who would you suggest out of these, I need 2? Massaguoi, Bowe, Harvin, T.O.
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I'd go with Massaquoi and T.O. But I would consider starting just T.O. (assuming the weather is OK) and then going with Bowe if it looks like Fitzgerald will sit (if the Vikings win) and then go with Fitzgerald if the Vikings lose. That risk/reward is OK to use in place of Massaquoi, who should "massacre" the Jaguars on Sunday.
(12/31 19:00 PM) ColtsFan812, Vincennes,IN - What is your prediction this week on Mike Bell with Thomas out?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Minimal stats. The Saints will keep him fresh for the postseason. Lynell Hamilton is who we expect to see run the ball for the Saints for most of the game.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Mike, T-Town - Going back and forth between Ben Roths and M.Schaub....who you taking for throwing more TD's and better overall game day?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I think Schaub has a great matchup. I'd go with him. Both should be fine, but Schaub is at home.
(12/31 19:00 PM) TANN MAN, vermont - morris or R williams , bradshaw or jackson @rb ? thanks
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) TANN, I'd go with Jackson ... assuming that's Steven Jackson.
(12/31 19:00 PM) shawn, nashville - bo scaife, finley, or dustin keller as my TE?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Shawn I like Keller here. All three might post minimal stats but he'll play the most and see the most opportunities.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Doogie, Phoenix, AZ - Will the Colts try to get D Brown some playing time to get the rust off or will they play it safe with him too?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) He might see 10 to 12 touches. I could see that. But Mike Hart is who we'll likely see in the second half for the Colts. I think that's a very reasonable expectation.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Jimi, Las Vegas - Dave great colum. Who to start F Jackson or D Brown? Also best two between Maclin,Bryant,Muhammed or Wallace? Again thanks for the advice throughout the year.
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I'd go with F. Jackson this week at RB and Maclin and Wallace (gotta love the rookies) at WR. Happy to help, have a great 2010 and see ya this summer out in Las Vegas.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Dave M, East Lyme, CT - Hi Dave. Need two of the following: Gaffney (Marshall out?), Devin Aromashodu, Mike Wallace, Austin Collie or Sims-Walker. Thanks.
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Still digging Wallace here, and I like Aromashodu with him. Did you know that he's had over 30 targets over his last three games? Jay Cutler likes him a lot.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Aaron, Newark, New Jersey - Who is a better play if active, SJax or Ahmad Bradshaw?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Jackson doesn't have a strong history against the 49ers. If Bradshaw is active I think he's the best bet. Otherwise, go with Jackson.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Ronald, NY - Need a QB to fill in for Warner in case the Vikings win in the early game, Orton w/ NO Brandon Marshall or Scheffler? Or Vince Young in a gm where the Titans will probably do everything they can to get Chris Johnson the record?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) I'd actually take a long look at Mark Sanchez. He plays Sunday night and is available in most leagues. I don't like Orton at all without Marshall and I don't love Young. See if Sanchez is available.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Angelica, Dallas, TX - Hi Dave. I just want to thank yawl for your help in winning a FF title. The men in my league didn't think women belonged in FF and I crushed them in the playoffs, girl power. Appreciated all the advice during the whole season. So now what happens, after this week, yawl fixin to go on vacation till like August, before 2010 season begins?? Thanks again and yawl have a Happy New Year.
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Thanks Angelica. We're happy to help. I'm pleased to tell you that I cover the NFL EVERY SINGLE DAY for Fantasy owners here on CBSSports.com. I think it's a credit to helping me help you guys come August, but I'll also tell you a secret: The Fantasy owners who stop by a couple of times a week during the offseason and every day during the summer/preseason are the ones who win year after year. It's really important to keep up with the NFL, and that's what I do here at CBSSports.com. So stick around.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Sandman, Detroit,MI - What can we reasonably expect from Henne this week? With all the quaterback's in jeopardy of not playing or playing very little this week is he a top ten QB play?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) He is, Sandy. He's topped 320 passing yards in three of his last four games and even though he turns the ball over a lot, the potential is strong for him to put up some good numbers against a BAD Steelers secondary.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Super Bowl Winner?, KC Missouri - Need 2 @ WR. Driver, Ocho, Welker, Crabtree, Manningham or another free agent? Also, need 1 RB to go w/ MJD: Donald Brown or Caddy? So many questions w/ playing time is making me go crazy Dave. Please Help!!
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Hey SBW. I'd go with Welker and Crabtree, though I would check waivers to see who's there (no major suggestions though). I'd also start Cadillac over D. Brown since his playing time is up in the air.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Barb, NY - I need your help on RBs. I will start C. Johnson and R. Rice. Who should I go with from Snelling, Lynell Hamilton, Sammy Morris, or Justin Forsett? Thanking you for all the great advice this season that led me to the championship!
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Happy to help, Barb. I like Snelling's matchup the most against a terrible Bucs run defense. Michael Turner is questionable but he didn't practice all week -- I think he's done for the year. Go with Snelling.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Bob, PA - Hi Dave:
I am in my championship game and want to ask on TE & WR's. Celek or Fred Davis, on the WR Front, (Pick 2) MSW, Meacham, or Massaquoi. Thanks for a great season
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Bob I love Celek this week. Nice matchup, will play all game long. I'd sit Meachem of your WRs.
(12/31 19:00 PM) WHO DAT NATION, N.O. LOUISIANA - .....Happy new year......Keep Brees over Jaamal Charles in a keeper league, where the scoring favors speed runners, (long plays for T.D.s) over 4 pt T.D.'s for Q.B. TD's under 16 yards......Ilove Brees, but Charles has youth and speed, a DEADLY COMBO.....???
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Yeah I think that's OK to pencil in right now. I see Charles as a first-round talent. Brees is too, obviously, but quarterbacks will be plentiful next year.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Dominic, Paris,France - Hey Dave! I need a RB to pair with MJD and a flex : Morris - Ganther - Hightower - Foster or Felix? Is Meachem a good play this week? od should I go with Britt or Massaquoi? thanks man!
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Bonjour Dominic! I'd go with Foster at RB and I guess Felix Jones as a flex. Don't love the others. Massaquoi should be as good if not better than Meachem.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Elliot, Baltimore, MD - vince seems like a dicey start this week since they are committed to getting their rb 130 yards and maybe even more for the all time record. i'm looking for a huge week to make up some ground in week 2 of championship and have to choose 2 qbs to start out of: VY, Freeman, and Matt Moore. leaning towards the latter. vy doesnt seem to have huge game potential this week despite the juicy matchup. what do you think?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Hey Elliot. If you want upside, Freeman is your guy. Young will hand off a bunch and Moore won't have Steve Smith. Freeman has a big arm and a good matchup against the Falcons at home. I'd go with him.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Joe Montana, San Fran - I'm playing Elway in my championship game. Gates is a BIG risk. So in a PPR league, do I go with Z Miller, Heap or J Carlson? Thanks a million Dave.
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) An honor to hear from you, Mr. Montana. You gotta beat Elway for sure! I'd keep riding Todd Heap as he's been a multi-TD machine of late.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Sammy, Ok City - Who do you like better at TE---Winslow or Finley
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Winslow will play, Finley isn't promised anything as far as playing time goes. Winslow is safer.
(12/31 19:00 PM) Dominic, Paris,France - Hey again! Alex Smith or do I stick with Brady?
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) If you can take the risk, Brady is the guy. History has shown that Brady will play a lot: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyfootball/story/12731810
(12/31 19:00 PM) Eric, Chandler, AZ - Dave, Happy New Year! In the finals and play 2RB's, 2WR's, 1 Flex. Please help me in this CRAZY week 17 from these players. Charles, Harrison, Mendenhall, Snelling, Brown...Boldin, Driver, Smith(nyg), Meachum, V Jax. Also if you will 49ers or Ravens. Thank you again for ALL your help this year!!!! Eric
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) Last question goes to Eric. I like Charles and Harrison at RB, Smith and Boldin (I guess) at WR. If Boldin is out maybe you can get Laveranues Coles or Jerricho Cotchery to replace him? Not that Coles is a lock to play a ton. I also love the 49ers DST. More than the Ravens.
 | (12/31 19:00 PM) OK gang, that's going to do it for me. Glad we were able to chat. Remember to check out the following items ...
