Garrett Richards stays dominant in final start before ASG

(11:32 pm ET) Angels starter Garrett Richards remained dominant in his final start before the break, picking up his 11th win of the season. The right-hander yielded five hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings of a 3-0 victory.

Over his last three starts covering 21 1/3 innings, Richards has allowed only one earned run. He heads into the break with a 2.55 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP over 19 starts (123 1/3 innings).


Casey Janssen notches 14th save

(11:26 pm ET) Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen picked up the save Friday night against the Rays in Tampa Bay.

Janssen needed only 11 pitches to complete a perfect ninth inning to secure an 8-5 victory. He is 14 for 16 in save chances, with a 1.29 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP over 21 innings of relief.


T.J. McFarland picks up relief win Friday

(11:22 pm ET) Orioles reliever T.J. McFarland picked up a relief win in extras Friday night against the Yankees.

McFarland needed only nine pitches to complete a perfect 10th inning, while the offense scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the frame to secure a 3-2 win. He owns a 3.25 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP over 36 innings of relief.


Adam Warren allows walkoff hit in extras

(11:20 pm ET) Yankees reliever Adam Warren took the loss Friday night against the Orioles in extras. 

Warren permitted a walkoff run-scoring single to Nick Hundley in the 10th inning. He was charged with one run on two hits and no walks while striking out one over just one-third of an inning. He owns a 2.79 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP over 48 1/3 innings of relief.


Devin Mesoraco slugs number 16 Friday

(11:19 pm ET) Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco slugged his 16th home run Friday against the Pirates. 

Mesoraco's big fly sparked the team's eighth inning comeback. He worked a four-pitch at-bat from Tony Watson. On the final pitch, Mesoraco belted a 96 mph fastball out to left for the solo shot. He finished 1 for 4, with one run scored and one RBI. 


David Price scratched Saturday due to illness

(11:16 pm ET) Rays starter David Price was officially scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday against the Blue Jays because of an illness, the Tampa Tribune reports. The Rays will use Jake Odorizzi in his place on Saturday, and have not counted Price out of a possible start on Sunday against Toronto.

Bryce Harper manages solo home run Friday

(11:15 pm ET) Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper only had one hit Friday, but made it count.

In the seventh inning, Harper stepped to the plate with no runners on. He clobbered a 90 mph sinker out to right field for the solo shot on the second pitch of the at-bat. Harper finished 1 for 4, with one run scored and one RBI. The big fly was his second home run of the season. 


Jimmy Rollins clubs two home runs Friday

(11:12 pm ET) Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins clubbed two home runs Friday against the Nationals.

Rollins first shot came in the third inning. With one man on, Rollins belted a 94 mph fastball from Jordan Zimmermann out to right for the two-run shot. He struck again in the seventh, taking an 89 mph fastball from Craig Stammen just over the right field wall. Rollins finished 2 for 4, with two runs scored and three RBI. 


Ricky Nolasco temporarily moves rehab to Florida

(11:11 pm ET) Twins pitcher Ricky Nolasco flew back to Florida to continue his rehab and will head back to Minnesota on Thursday, MLB.com reports. Nolasco is working his way back from a right elbow strain and remains without a timetable. He posted a 5.90 ERA and 72:28 K:BB ratio in 103 2/3 innings.

Danny Santana working out in spring complex

(11:07 pm ET) Twins shortstop Danny Santana flew to the team's spring complex in Florida to work out for a few days before starting a minor-league rehab assignment with Class A Fort Myers, MLB.com reports Friday. Santana is working his way back from a deep bone bruise in his left knee. The Twins have not announced a date for his first rehab game.
