Report: Royals might go after Bartolo Colon or A.J. Burnett
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:27 pm ET) The Royals are considering making a run to acquire Mets starting pitcher Bartolo Colon or Phillies starting pitcher A.J. Burnett, major-league sources told the New York Daily News.

However, a major caveat is that the Roayls might not be able to add to the payroll to acquire either pitcher, but that will be determined in the coming days. The Royals' evaluators, however, are said to like both veteran pitchers.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:19 pm ET) Scuffling Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli is out of the Tuesday lineup against Toronto. Mike Carp is starting at that spot instead.

Shae Simmons heads to DL; Braves call up Juan Jaime
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:14 pm ET) The Braves have shelved reliever Shae Simmons on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain and promoted fellow right-hander Juan Jaime from Triple-A Gwinnett to take his roster spot.

Simmons has struggled lately with four runs on four hits and four walks in his last 1 2/3 innings pitched. He has walked nine batters in his last seven innings after issuing just two in his first 14 2/3 innings previously this season.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Troy Tulowitzki to return by mid-August?
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:05 pm ET) Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who underwent a dry needling procedure Monday for his injured left hip flexor, said he will get back to movement activities Wednesday, according to MLB.com.

It is believed Tulowitzki might be back by the middle of August, but for now he is taking his recovery day to day.

"It wasn't an easy process -- a tough day for me," Tulowitzki said in a telephone interview Tuesday morning. "But I feel all right. The plan is to get back to starting movement, see how it feels.

"(Wednesday) I'll start moving around and doing some stuff. I'll be jogging and walking a little bit -- obviously, it's not baseball activity, just getting moving to see how I feel."

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:03 pm ET) Rays catcher Jose Molina is catching a break Tuesday against Milwaukee. He is out of the lineup in favor of Curt Casali.
