Phillies SP Aaron Harang will start Friday; push Hamels back

(2:02 pm ET) The Phillies announced that starting pitcher Aaron Harang, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a foot injury, will start on Friday.

Harang's start will push back pitcher Cole Hamels, who was originally slated to throw on Friday. Hamels is at the center of continuous trade talks.

Marlins SP Jarred Cosart dealing with second bout of vertigo

(1:42 pm ET) Marlins starting pitcher Jarred Cosart is dealing with a second bout with vertigo, according to Fox Sports.

This time Cosart experienced vertigo while pitching in the minors.

"He actually is having one final evaluation and then the medication will begin," manager Dan Jennings said. "Hopefully they've now identified everything that was causing the situation."


Angels LF Collin Cowgill (wrist) takes batting practice

(1:35 pm ET) Angels left fielder Collin Cowgill took batting practice Tuesday as he continues to work his way back from a sprained right wrist, according to the Orange County Register.

Cowgill has taken batting practice a number of times before, but has felt discomfort the following day on each occasion.

Astros RF George Springer to have injured wrist examined again

(1:18 pm ET) Astros right fielder George Springer will have his injured right wrist examined again within the next two weeks, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Springer, though, is staying active by participating in cardio work, which includes tossing balls to coaches who hit ground balls during batting practice.

“Chasing down some fly balls, doing anything he can to avoid being stir crazy,” manager A.J. Hinch said. “He’s not doing anything really with his right hand.”


Astros SS Jed Lowrie is on track for return this week

(1:11 pm ET) Astros shortstop Jed Lowrie, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a thumb inury, could return during his team's current homestand, according to the Houston Chronicle.

“We’ll get one more game in before we get the brains together and figure out what’s the next step for him,” manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday afternoon. “I’m happy with his progress. Talked to him this morning, he was really happy with some of the action he’s gotten at third, some of the at-bats he’s taken. We’re still hopeful that at the end of this homestand or very quickly, we’ll have a chance to maybe get him back.”

Lowrie has played five minor-league rehab games as he continues to work his way back to a return to the Astros.


Mariners 2B Robinson Cano out of Wednesday lineup

(1:11 pm ET) Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano is getting his first day off since June 18 on Wednesday. He is out of the lineup against visiting Arizona.

Cano lost his eight-game hitting streak Tuesday, but still has 13 hits in his last 32 at-bats with three of the 11 home runs he has slugged this season.
