Yankees P Nathan Eovaldi keeps Angels scoreless in 5 1/3 innings

(11:39 pm ET) Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi kept the Angels from scoring any runs during his 5 1/3 innings on the mound in Wednesday night's 3-1 win. 

Eovaldi threw 94 pitches and received the benefit of a sound defense. He gave up five hits, walked three batters and struck out three. Eovaldi is now 8-2 with a 4.52 ERA, a 1.54 WHIP.


Mets 3B Daniel Murphy continues hot streak at the plate

(11:38 pm ET) Mets third baseman Daniel Murphy went 2 for 5 with a double in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs.

Murphy is hitting a whopping .400 with 24 hits, six doubles and seven RBI over his last 16 games.


Cubs SS Starlin Castro gets two hits, RBI in win over Mets

(11:34 pm ET) Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro went 2 for 5 with a RBI in Wednesday's win over the Mets. 

The multi-hit performance is Castro's fourth in his last 11 games. Over that stretch, he is hitting .256 with 11 hits and four RBI.


Mets SP Bartolo Colon solid in no-decision against Cubs

(11:31 pm ET) Mets starting pitcher Bartolo Colon enjoyed a solid outing in what turned out to be a no-decision against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Colon threw seven innings, gave up just three hits and no earned runs in his first no-decision of the season.

Colon (9-6) has a 4.55 ERA with 79 strikeouts and just 11 walks in 99 innings this season.


Orioles SS J.J. Hardy hits go-ahead homer in seventh inning

(11:30 pm ET) Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy hit what would be the game-winning two-run homer in Wednesday night's 4-2 victory over the Rangers. 

Hardy went yard in the seventh inning. He finished the game 1 for 4 from the plate. This is the fourth game in a row that Hardy has recorded a hit. He now has a slash line of .250/.280/.352 with four home runs this year. 


Cubs RP Justin Grimm records first save of the season

(11:25 pm ET) Cubs relief pitcher Justin Grimm picked up his first save of the season on Wednesday in a win over the Mets.

Grimm pitched just 1/3 of an inning, but picked up the save after the Cubs went up 2-0 in the top of the 11th inning. Regular closer Hector Rondon tossed one inning earlier in the game.

Grimm (1-2) has a 1.42 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 19 innings of relief this season.


Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo homers again

(11:23 pm ET) If Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is on fire from the plate. 

In Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles, Choo hit a home run for the third time in consecutive games. He finished 1 for 3 and has hit .417 over the past three games. The homer was his 11th of the year. 

Choo now has a slash line of .233/.315/.405. 


Cubs SP Jon Lester flashes dominance in seven-inning outing

(11:21 pm ET) Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester was dominant on Wednesday against the Mets.

Lester threw seven innings, allowed juts five hits and no runs in a no-decision. He struck out seven batters was in constant control before being pulled from the 2-0 victory.

Lester (4-6) has a 3.74 ERA with 93 strikeouts and 28 walks in 96 1/3 innings this season.


Rangers P Nick Martinez strikes out five in loss

(11:14 pm ET) Rangers pitcher Nick Martinez gave up four runs — three earned — in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles. 

Martinez went 6 2/3 innings, gave up seven hits, walked one batter and struck out five. This is the seventh time this season Martinez has recorded at least five strikeouts in a game. He now has a 3.43 ERA this year. 


Tigers C James McCann hits fourth homer of the year

(11:10 pm ET) Tigers catcher James McCann hit his fourth home run of the season during Wednesday's loss to the Pirates.

McCann went 2 for 4 with a solo home run in the ninth inning. 

McCann is hitting .500 with seven hits, two home runs and three RBI over his last three games.
