Cubs add seven as rosters expand

(2:32 pm ET) The Cubs added seven players to their expanded roster Tuesday, the team announced.

The team called up pitchers Brian Schlitter, Dan Straily, Arodys Vizcaino and Zac Rosscup , along with outfielder Junior Lake , while selecting the contracts of pitcher Eric Jokisch and catcher Rafael Lopez from Triple-A Iowa. 


Justin Ruggiano moved to 60-day DL

(2:04 pm ET) The Cubs moved outfielder Justin Ruggiano to the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, just a few days after he underwent season-ending ankle surgery in recent days. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster.

Ruggiano finished the season hitting .281/.337/.429 in 224 at-bats, with six home runs and 28 RBI as a part-time player. 


Royals call up four from Double-A

(1:58 pm ET) The Royals added infielder Christian Colon , outfielder Terrance Gore and pitchers Liam Hendriks and Aaron Crow from Double-A Northwest Arkansas Tuesday, the team announced. 

Astros DFA Paul Clemens, David Martinez

(1:52 pm ET) The Astros designated pitchers Paul Clemens and David Martinez for assignment Tuesday, in order to clear room on the 40-man roster.

Clemens had a 5.84 ERA in 24 2/3 innings with the Astros this season, while Martinez had a 5.14 ERA in 7 innings. 


Darin Downs brought back from DL

(1:50 pm ET) Astros reliever Darin Downs was activated from the disabled list Tuesday and added to the active roster, the team announced. Downs has been out since Aug. 14 due to an oblique injury, and had a 4.31 ERA in 31 1/3 innings prior.  

Marlins add four from Triple-A

(12:41 pm ET) The Marlins added four players from Triple-A New Orleans Tuesday, as part of September roster expansion.

The Marlins recalled pitchers Anthony DeSclafani and Andrew Heaney , along with infielders Jusin Bour and Enrique Hernandez , the team announced.  


Brewers part ways with Caleb Gindl, Hiram Burgos

(12:08 pm ET) The Brewers designated outfielder Caleb Gindl for assignment and released pitcher Hiram Burgos Tuesday, the team announced.

Gindle had just three hits in 19 at-bats with the Brewers earlier in the season, while Burgos finished the season with a 6.50 ERA in 18 innings at Triple-A Nashville before undergoing shoulder surgery.

(12:03 pm ET) The Brewers called up three players from Triple-A Nashville Tuesday, the team announced. Infielders Matt Clark, Hector Gomez and Jason Rogers will join the team in Chicago Tuesday, as part of expanded rosters. 

Blue Jays add nine to expanded roster

(11:59 am ET) The Blue Jays added nine players to the active roster Tuesday as a result of the expanded rosters, the team announced.

The team reinstated pitcher Brandon Morrow and infielder Dan Johnson from the disabled list Tuesday, while adding seven other players from the minors. They are: Ryan Goins, Anthony Gose, Kendall Graveman, Sean Nolin, Daniel Norris, Dalton Pompey and George Kottaras .


Brett Lawrie moved to 60-day DL, ending his season

(11:54 am ET) The Blue Jays transferred infielder Brett Lawrie to the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, a move which will bring his season to an end due to an oblique injury.

Lawrie has been out since Aug. 5 as a result of the injury, and there is no indication he has made much progress while recovering. He finished the season with a .247/.301/.421 line in 259 at-bats, with 12 home runs and 38 RBI.
