by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:16 am ET) Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario could soon find himself on the disabled list as he continues to deal with a sore wrist, MLB.com reports.

"He's been getting treatment and trying to swing the bat in the cage the past couple days," manager Walt Weiss said Tuesday. "But he's getting close to probably looking at a DL [stint] is what we're looking at. The wrist just isn't responding like we want."

Rosario hasn't played since Friday due to the injury.

Joaquin Benoit records ninth save Tuesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:14 am ET) Padres closer Joaquin Benoit earned his ninth save Tuesday, tossing a 1-2-3 ninth inning in his team's 4-1 win over the Brewers.

Benoit hasn't given up an earned run since July 18, stringing together 11 2/3 innings with only one unearned run, three walks and 14 strikeouts. Benoit owns a 1.58 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 60:14 K:BB ratio in 51 1/3 innings.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:11 am ET) Padres outfielder Abraham Almonte went 2 for 3 with a walk, a home run, two RBI and one stolen base in his team's 4-1 win over the Brewers Tuesday.

Almonte put his team ahead for good with his first-inning solo home run, which he followed up with an RBI single in a three-run third inning. He has hit .239/.277/.356 with three home runs, 15 RBI and four stolen bases in 163 at-bats.

Matt Shoemaker twirls seven scoreless innings Tuesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:09 am ET) Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker earned a win Tuesday, giving up just two hits and two walks in seven scoreless innings while striking out six in his team's 8-2 victory over the Marlins.

Shoemaker (13-4) has delivered back-to-back gems, allowing just three hits in 14 2/3 innings while striking out 15 during that stretch. He now owns a 3.33 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 108:21 K:BB ratio in 110 2/3 innings. Shoemaker will look to keep rolling Sunday against the A's.

Nathan Eovaldi chased in fourth inning in loss vs. Angels
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:09 am ET) Marlins pitcher Nathan Eovaldi took a loss Tuesday, surrendering six earned runs on 10 hits and one walk in just 3 1/3 innings while striking out four in his team's 8-2 defeat against the Angels.

Eovaldi (6-9) turned in his shortest outing of the season as he continues to deal with a rough second half. He gave up one run in the first inning Tuesday before the Angels racked up five more in the fourth inning. Eovaldi owns a 4.30 ERA and 117:34 K:BB ratio in 165 1/3 innings after owning a 3.61 ERA at the All-Star break. He's scheduled to face the Mets Monday.

Tyson Ross surrenders one run in win vs. Brewers
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:08 am ET) Padres pitcher Tyson Ross earned a win Tuesday, allowing only one earned run on four hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings while striking out six in his team's 4-1 victory over the Brewers.

Ross (12-12) was handed a 4-0 lead after three innings before allowing his only run of the game on a ground-rule double in the fourth. He extended his quality-start streak to 13 starts with his excellent outing Tuesday. Ross owns a 2.64 ERA and 176:64 K:BB ratio in 181 innings. He's scheduled to face the Diamondbacks Monday.

Jimmy Nelson strikes out seven in loss vs. Padres
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:08 am ET) Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson took a loss Tuesday, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk in five innings while striking out seven in his team's 4-1 defeat against the Padres.

Nelson (2-5) served up a solo home run in the first inning before the Padres added three more runs in the third. Though he's pitched relatively well in the second half of the season, Nelson could be in danger of losing his rotation spot with Matt Garza on the verge of returning. Nelson owns a 4.10 ERA and 45:15 K:BB ratio in 52 2/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Cubs Monday.

Matt Kemp slugs 16th home run Tuesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:06 am ET) Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run in his team's 9-5 win over the Diamondbacks Tuesday.

Kemp kicked off the scoring with a two-run shot in the first inning, and though the Diamondbacks evened the score in the second inning, the Dodgers picked up a win with relative ease. Kemp owns a .276/.341/.465 line with 16 home runs, 61 RBI and eight stolen bases in 434 at-bats.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:06 am ET) Dodgers pitcher Roberto Hernandez picked up a win Tuesday, giving up three earned runs on six hits and two walks in six innings and striking out three in his team's 9-5 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Hernandez (8-9) gave up a two-run single in the second inning to tie the game but watched his offense delivered plenty of support with a six-run fourth inning. He's managed three quality starts in four tries since joining the Dodgers. Hernandez owns a 3.81 ERA and 90:63 K:BB ratio in 144 innings. He's in line to face the Padres Sunday, depending on the status of Hyun-Jin Ryu.

Trevor Cahill slammed for eight runs in loss vs. Dodgers
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:05 am ET) Diamondbacks pitcher Trevor Cahill took a loss Tuesday, allowing eight earned runs on six hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings while striking out three in his team's 9-5 defeat against the Dodgers.

Cahill (3-9) surrendered a two-run home run in the top of the first inning, but things didn't get hairy until the fourth, when he walked the first two batters of the frame before recording a strikeout. It would be his final out of the day, as the starter gave up five straight singles in succession before being pulled. Cahill owns a 5.19 ERA and 78:40 K:BB ratio in 86 2/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Padres in San Diego Monday.
