by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(12:12 am ET) Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran snapped a 16-game homerless drought when he smacked a solo blast in the second inning of Wednesday's game against the Rangers. The home run, his eighth of the year, gave the Yankees an early 1-0 lead, but it wouldn't last as the Rangers topped the Yankees 5-2.

Report: Harrison dealt to Phillies as part of Hamels swap
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(12:09 am ET) Former All-Star starter Matt Harrison, who returned to the majors this season after suffering a serious back injury, is one of the major names being shipped to the Phillies from the Rangers as part of the big trade for starter Cole Hamels.

Harrison underwent spinal fusion surgery to fix a back problem that has limited him for the past three seasons. He recently returned to the Rangers rotation, making three starts, including a rough outing Monday in which he allowed six runs.

He is owed $28 million over the final two years of his contract. The Phillies will also receive a host of Rangers' prospects, including catcher Jorge Alfaro and outfielder Nick Williams.

The trade has not been officially announced by either team.

Report: Cole Hamels traded to Rangers in blockbuster deal
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(12:00 am ET) Phillies starter Cole Hamels, one of the top targets on the trade market, has reportedly been traded to the Rangers as part of an eight-player and cash deal between the teams, per multiple sources.

Hamels, who is coming off a no-hitter last Sunday, is 6-7 with a 3.64 ERA in 20 starts this season, but the left-hander is considered to be one of the top pitchers in the game, compiling 114 wins in his 10-year career, all with Philadelphia. In addition to Hamels, the Rangers also receive reliever Jake Diekman.

The rebuilding Phillies get a large haul of young talent, including lefty starter Matt Harrison, top catching prospect Jorge Alfaro, outfielder Nick Williams and pitchers Alec Asher, Jerad Eickhoff and Jake Thompson.

The trade has not been officially announced by either team.
