Jon Lester scratched Wednesday, Brandon Workman to start
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10:27 pm ET) Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester has been scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start, the Springfield Republican reports.

Lester's name has been involved in trade talks as the deadline nears, and the Red Sox have decided to hold him out Wednesday, which will avoid the chance he's injured while also leave him available to pitch for a new team if he is traded. Brandon Workman will take Lester's scheduled start Wednesday.

He had turned in four straight quality starts before Tuesday's loss. Bauer owns a 4.25 ERA and 85:31 K:BB ratio in 89 innings. He's scheduled to face the Rangers Sunday.
