Mets RF Curtis Granderson belts sixth home run in loss on Friday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(9:36 pm ET) Mets right fielder Curtis Granderson launched his sixth home run of the season in Friday's loss to the Marlins. Granderson's solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning brought the Mets to within two runs, but it was not enough as the Marlins won by a score of 4-3.

Home runs aside, Granderson has been struggling at the plate. Over his last 10 games, he has just six hits in 34 at-bats.

Jose Bautista plans return to right field, Monday for Blue Jays
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(9:33 pm ET) Jose Bautista is close to a return to right field for the Blue Jays, possibly as soon as Monday.

Bautista hasn't played in the field since April 21, due to a strained shoulder. He's been playing designated hitter for the Jays.

Monday starts a series at Washington, meaning the DH will not be available.

"Yeah, I think he might be out there this week," manager John Gibbons said per MLB.com. "Before we left, he threw out to 120 feet and felt pretty good. So, he's slowly getting there."

Marlins 1B Justin Bour belts three-run home run in Friday's win
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(9:33 pm ET) First baseman Justin Bour provided the offense the Marlins would need to defeat the Mets on Friday. In the top of the fourth inning, Bour launched a three-run home run to put the Marlins on top 4-0 in a game they would win 4-3.

The home run, his fourth of the season, was Bour's only hit of the game. Now the primary option at first base for the Marlins, Bour has 10 hits in 31 at-bats over his last 10 games.

Mets 1B Lucas Duda goes yard in loss on Friday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(9:30 pm ET) Mets first baseman Lucas Duda continued his recent power surge at the plate in Friday's loss to the Marlins. Duda went 1 for 4 and launched his ninth home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth.

The solo shot was Duda's sixth in his last seven games, and he maintains an impressive .304 batting average on the season.

Marlins closer A.J. Ramos gives up run, earns third save
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(9:27 pm ET) Marlins reliever A.J. Ramos made thing interesting, but was able to nail down his third save of the seaon in Friday's 4-3 win over the Mets.

Entering the game with a two-run lead, Ramos gave up a lead-off single to Ruben Tejada, who went to second on a wild pitch. Daniel Murphy brought Tejada in on a bloop double to draw the Mets to within a run.

But Ramos was able to get Lucas Duda and Michael Cuddyer to strike out before enducing a game-ending ground ball from Wilmer Flores.

Ramos had recorded 11 straight scoreless outings before Friday night's run. Still, he's a perfect 3-for-3 in save opportunities since taking the closer's job from Steve Cishek.

Marlins SP Dan Haren earns fifth win of the season on Friday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(9:23 pm ET) Marlins starter Dan Haren was excellent in Friday's win over the Mets. Haren allowed two runs on four hits, walked one and struck out four as he improved his record to 5-2.

The only runs scored against Haren came on solo home runs from Lucas Duda and Curtis Granderson. Otherwise, the Mets' offense wasn't able to get anything going against the veteran right-hander.

Haren has thrown at least six innings in all but two of his 10 starts so far this season. He'll take a 3.03 ERA into his next start on Wednesday at home against the Cubs.

Mets SP Matt Harvey throws eight innings in loss on Friday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(9:21 pm ET) Mets starter Matt Harvey improved from his last outing, but still picked up a loss on Friday against the Marlins. After having the worst start of his career on Saturday, Harvey went eight innings Friday. He gave up four runs on six hits, walking one and striking out a season-high 11 batters. He needed 105 pitches to make through the eighth.

The big blow against Harvey came in the top of the fourth when Justin Bour hit a three-run home run. He also allowed a run in the fifth on an RBI-single.

Harvey's ERA rose to 3.11 after Friday's outing. He'll carry a 5-3 record into his next start, scheduled for Thursday in Arizona.

Astros' Brad Peacock throws bullpen session
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(9:21 pm ET) Astros pitcher Brad Peacock continued his recovery from an intercostal strain that landed him on the disabled list.

Peacock threw a bullpen session on Friday, for the first time since going on the DL on May 13, per the Houston Chronicle.

He threw four changeups and 21 fastballs.

"No curveballs yet, but I felt real good for the first time in a while," he said. "I’ll keep building up from there. I’ll take two days off and then throw another one with probably some curveballs. It feels fine. It’s fun."

Indians 1B Carlos Santana (paternity) returning to team on Sunday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(8:57 pm ET) Indians first baseman Carlos Santana, currently on the paternity list, is expected to rejoin the team on Sunday in Seattle, according to Cleveland.com.

Santana has been away from the team since the birth of his daughter on Thursday.

Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) suffers setback in rehab
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(8:54 pm ET) Giants starter Jake Peavy has suffered a setback in his recovery from a back injury that has had him on the disabled list since April 18. Peavy made his second rehab start on Wednesday, and experienced back tightness following the game.

Manager Bruce Bochy said they will slow down his rehab work and Peavy was expected to see a doctor on Friday, according to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. The team has not revealed an updated timetable for Peavy's recovery.
