by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:48 pm ET) Twins right fielder Oswaldo Arcia gave his team a bit of breathing room Wednesday afternoon against the Indians with a solo home run in the sixth inning for a two-run lead.

Arcia added a single to his sixth blast of the year. He now owns a stat line of .222/.310/.378.

Dodgers without Yasiel Puig, Hanley Ramirez again
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4:48 pm ET) Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig and shortstop Hanley Ramirez were both held out of the starting lineup again Wednesday against the Pirates due to hand injuries. Puig was sidelined a fourth straight game, while Ramirez missed a third straight game.

James Paxton to get another rehab start Sunday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(4:47 pm ET) Mariners pitcher James Paxton will receive another rehab start Sunday, according to MLB.com.

Paxton got through his Tuesday rehab start with no issues. He's set to start Sunday at Triple-A Tacoma. If the Sunday start goes well, there's a chance Paxton will be ready to return to the majors.

Eric Hosmer leaves after two at-bats Wednesday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(4:42 pm ET) Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer left Wednesday's game after just two at-bats.

Hosmer was dealing with a hand injury prior to the game, but managed to talk his way into the lineup. The club has not announced why Hosmer was pulled from the game, but that could be in play. Hosmer finished the game 0 for 2, with an RBI. He was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning.

Carlos Martinez being moved back to bullpen
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4:40 pm ET) Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez is headed back to the bullpen as Shelby Miller will rejoin the rotation Saturday against the Cubs, according to MLB.com. Martinez went 2-1 with a 4.45 ERA over seven starts since joining the rotation June 16.

Non-support dooms Trevor Bauer to defeat
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:37 pm ET) A lack of run support continued to plague Indians rookie Trevor Bauer on Wednesday afternoon in Minnesota.

Bauer wasn't lights-out, but he did manage to twirl his fifth quality start in his last six outings and give up three runs or less in his sixth straight. But he took the loss as the Indians provided him with just one run.

The right-hander yielded three earned runs on six hits, including a solo home run off the bat of Oswaldo Arcia. He walked two and fanned seven.

Bauer, whose record fell to 4-5, will try to even it up next Tuesday against visiting Seattle.

Shelby Miller set to rejoin rotation Saturday
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4:37 pm ET) Cardinals starting pitcher Shelby Miller is returning to the rotation Saturday against the Cubs, according to MLB.com. Miller made one relief appearance, allowing two hits and one walk over a scoreless innings Sunday against the Dodgers.

Ryan Pressly called up Wednesday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(4:37 pm ET) Twins pitcher Ryan Pressly has been promoted to the majors Wednesday.

The 25-year-old has pitched well in the minors, posting a 2.98 ERA over 60 1/3 innings. He'll take the roster spot of Matt Guerrier.

Matt Guerrier designated for assignment Wednesday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(4:33 pm ET) Twins reliever Matt Guerrier was designated for assignment following Wednesday's game.

The 35-year-old reliever has been solid for the club this season, posting a 3.86 ERA over 28 innings. He won't factor into the team's future, though, which may have been the reason for the DFA. The club will call up Ryan Pressly to replace Guerrier on the active roster.

George Springer placed on DL with quad, knee issues
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:28 pm ET) The Astros have placed rookie sensation George Springer on the disabled list with a right quad injury and knee soreness that had prevented him from playing since Saturday.

Springer had one hit in his last 13 at-bats, but it was a solo home run. He has 20 taters in 295 at-bats this year to go along with a stat line of .231/.336/.468. His 114 strikeouts have certainly been a concern.
