by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

He was able to induce a pop out for the first out, but couldn’t pull it together. Hughes gave up singles to the next three batters. He was pulled after giving up two runs. Both runners Hughes left on base wound up scoring, and were charged to Hughes.

With the loss, Hughes dropped to 14-9. He’ll take on the Orioles in his next start.

Liam Hendriks turns in strong start Wednesday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10:54 pm ET) Royals pitcher Liam Hendriks turned in a strong start Wednesday against the Twins.

Hendriks would escape the inning without giving up any runs. He wasn’t so fortunate in the seventh. After getting one out, Hendriks gave up a single and a run-scoring double to the next two hitters.

The Royals mounted a comeback, taking Hendriks off the hook. He didn’t factor into the decision. Hendriks will take on the Rangers in his next start.
