Hughes allowed one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four over three innings of work before the injury. He owns a 4.03 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 21 starts (131 2/3 innings). He now remains uncertain for his next start, Wednesday at Kansas City.

Ruben Tejada expected to return Friday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9:16 pm ET) Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada is expected to return to the starting lineup Friday, according to ESPN.

Tejada was hit in the head by a pitch during Wednesday's game, and sat out Thursday. The injury is not considered serious, and manager Terry Collins was just trying to be cautious with his shortstop. "We thought we’d give him one more day just as a precaution," Collins said. "He feels great. Said he could play, but we’ll just give him today and get him back in there tomorrow."

Tejada is hitting .235 over 260 at-bats.

Bourn has been sidelined since July 5 with the injury and remains without a timetable. He will likely need a rehab stint in the minors. Before the injury, he batted .267 with three homers, 21 RBI, 37 runs scored and seven steals in 285 at-bats.

Joe Mauer gets some work in the cage
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8:46 pm ET) Twins catcher Joe Mauer was able to hit in the cage prior to Thursday's game against the White Sox, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Mauer's next step in his recovery from a strained oblique would live batting practice. The Twins have not established a date for that, at this moment.

Mauer has been sidelined since July 1 with the injury. He batted .271/.342/.353 with two home runs and 28 RBI in 303 at-bats before the injury.
