White Sox-Orioles game postponed Monday because of protests
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(6:28 pm ET) The White Sox-Orioles game scheduled for Monday in Baltimore has been postponed because of civil protests in the area, the teams announced. The game was originally expected to be played as scheduled after the Orioles discussed the situation in the city, but Baltimore City Police decided it best to put off the game until a later date.

White Sox starter Hector Noesi and Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez will have their starts pushed back to a later date. Noesi is currently 0-2 with a 5.23 ERA in 10 1/3 innings while Jimenez is 1-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 15 2/3 innings.

Joe Girardi not yet conceding Yankees' closer role to Andrew Miller
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(6:22 pm ET) Despite being the only Yankee with a save this season (seven for seven), manager Joe Girardi has not yet named Andrew Miller as the team's closer, according to NJ.com.

"I don't know if I need to officially name it yet," Girardi said. "I'll take a few more days I guess."

It was unclear coming into spring training if the closer role would go to Miller, a 2015 free-agent signee, or Dellin Betances, who's coming off a sensational rookie season.

To this point in 2015, Betances has been working the seventh or eighth inning while Miller has gotten the nod for the ninth.

Neither pitcher has given up an earned run yet this season.

"We were kind of excited about the prospect of those two," Girardi said. "Being able to give us more than six outs ... [we thought] it could be a really good combination and so far it's played out that way."

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(6:04 pm ET) Padres infielder Will Middlebrooks is back in the starting lineup Monday at third base, moving Yangervis Solarte to second and Jedd Gyorko to the bench, the team announced.

Middlebrooks was given the day off Sunday, allowing Gyorko to make his first start in the last five games. Middlebrooks is hitting .239 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 71 at-bats this season.

The Padres are currently the favorites (-116) against the Astros Monday.

Rockies place Adam Ottavino on DL, activate David Hale
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6:02 pm ET) The Rockies placed closer Adam Ottavino on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to right triceps inflammation, the team announced.

Ottavino has been brilliant over the first three weeks of the season, giving up just three hits and two walks in 10 scoreless innings while striking out 13 and recording three saves. Rockies reliever John Axford picked up a save Thursday and could be in line for more ninth-inning work in the wake of Ottavino's injury.

The team reinstated pitcher David Hale from the 15-day disabled list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque. He opened the season on the disabled list due to an oblique injury.

To take Ottavino's spot on the active roster, the team recalled pitcher Jorge Rondon from Albuquerque.

Dodgers' Howie Kendrick, Juan Uribe back in the lineup Monday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5:54 pm ET) Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick and third baseman Juan Uribe are back in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Giants, the team announced.

Kendrick was given Sunday off after playing in 17 consecutive games for Los Angeles. He is hitting .303 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 66 at-bats this season. Uribe is back in the lineup after getting Sunday off as well and is hitting .244 with three RBI in 44 at-bats.

Utility man Alex Guerrero is also out of the lineup Monday even though he's hitting .500 with five home runs and 13 RBI in 22 at-bats this season.

The Dodgers are currently the favorites (-150) against San Francisco.

Nationals to play Anthony Rendon (knee) at 2B, 3B when he returns
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(5:45 pm ET) Nationals manager Matt Williams said infielder Anthony Rendon will be used at second and third base when he returns to the lineup, reports CSNWashington.com.

Rendon is dealing with a knee injury, but he has begun his rehab assignment at Double-A. He was scheduled to play seven innings during a rehab game Monday, but he was a late scratch due to feeling fatigued, the team announced.

Cardinals' Adam Wainwright has torn Achilles, out for season
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(5:42 pm ET) Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Monday that pitcher Adam Wainwright has been diagnosed with a torn Achilles in his left foot, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Wainwright will undergo surgery Thursday and miss the remainder of the season, the team announced. He suffered the injury while stumbling out of the batter's box during an at-bat in his last start. The recovery time for the procedure is nine-to-12 months, and the team is optimistic about his return.

Wainwright's season comes to a close after four starts. He went 2-1 with a 1.44 ERA and 18:3 K:BB ratio in 25 innings.

The Cardinals are expected to look internally to fill the rotation hole the injury presents. Marco Gonzales and Jaime Garcia are two long-term options to enter the rotation, but both are currently dealing with injuries.
