Josh Reddick set to start rehab work in coming days

(12:36 am ET) Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick is tentatively scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment for Class A Stockton or Triple-A Sacramento, on Sunday or Monday, MLB.com reports.

Reddick was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 29 with a strained right knee. He is expected to wear a brace on his injured knee for the rest of the season.


Yasiel Puig gets tossed for arguing balls and strikes

(12:24 am ET) Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was ejected by home plate umpire Saturday night against the Padres for arguing balls and strikes. Puig went 0 for 2 and was tossed in the bottom of the third inning following a strikeout. He owns a .307/.392/.519 with 12 homers and 51 RBI in 339 at-bats. 

Jim Adduci cranks out two singles in first rehab game

(12:13 am ET) Rangers outfielder Jim Adduci began a minor-league rehab assignment Saturday with Double-A Frisco.

Adduci played the field for sixth innings and singled in a run in the opening frame. He finished 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI in his first game action. He will play five games before he is re-evaluated again before the team decides to reinstate him from the disabled list.


Drew Pomeranz looks sharp in first rehab start

(12:08 am ET) Athletics pitcher Drew Pomeranz (hand) began a minor-league rehab assignment Saturday afternoon with Triple-A Sacramento.

Pomeranz allowed one run on one hit and no walks while striking out seven over four innings of work. His only damage was a home run to Garrett Weber. It remains to be seen how many starts he'll need before he returns from the disabled list.


Eddie Butler logs four innings in rehab debut

(12:04 am ET) Rockies pitcher Eddie Butler began a minor-league rehab assignment Saturday with Class A Modesto.

Butler allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two over four innings of work. He will likely make two rehab starts before rejoining the team July 22. His final rehab start would take place July 17 at Triple-A. 


Justin Turner set to start rehab work Sunday

(7/12/2014) Dodgers infielder Justin Turner is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Sunday with Class A Rancho Cucamonga, MLB.com reports.

He's expected to serve as a designated hitter in his first game action. Barring any setbacks, Turner could be back from the disabled list after three rehab games.

"I don't think it's a matter of [how many] games, it's just trying to get some at-bats," Turner said. "Everything feels good. I took a bunch of at-bats down there, live ABs vs. a couple of young guys down there. But it's a little bit different when you have a cage around you and taking actual ABs. So we'll see how that goes."

Jacob Diekman gets ejected, takes the loss in extras

(7/12/2014) Phillies reliever Jacob Diekman (3-3) took the loss and was ejected for arguing balls and strikes by home plate umpire Andy Fletcher after his outing Saturday night against the Nationals in extras.

Diekman, who entered the game in the 10th inning, allowed a run-scoring single to Ryan Zimmerman and allowed a run to score on a wild pitch, which proved to be the difference. He permitted two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out two over one inning of work. He owns a 4.53 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over 43 2/3 innings of relief.

Rafael Soriano Ks the side for the save in extras

(7/12/2014) Nationals closer Rafael Soriano struck out the side in the 10th inning, closing out a 5-3 win in extras over the Phillies on Saturday. Soriano has converted 22 of 24 save chances, with a 0.97 ERA and a 0.81 WHIP over 37 innings of relief.

Ross Detwiler picks up first relief win in extras

(7/12/2014) Nationals pitcher Ross Detwiler (1-2) picked up his first relief win of the season in extras against the Phillies in Philadelphia on Saturday.

Detwiler struck out one and needed only 12 pitches to secure a perfect ninth inning. The Nationals scored twice in the 10th inning, which proved to be the difference. He owns a 3.89 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP over 39 1/3 innings of relief.

Brad Miller gets tossed for arguing balls and strikes

(7/12/2014) Mariners shortstop Brad Miller was ejected from Saturday's game against the Athletics for arguing balls and strikes.

Miller was tossed by home plate umpire Bob Davidson after arguing following a strikeout in the bottom of the fourth inning. He owns a .206/.276/.333 with eight homers and 24 RBI in 267 at-bats.
