Rangers 1B Prince Fielder hits first home run of 2015

(12:57 am ET) First baseman Prince Fielder connected for his first home run of the season on Tuesday, a two-run blast. 

The homer helped break open the Rangers' lead in the eighth inning in their win over the Diamondbacks. 

Fielder added an RBI double in the first inning and now has nine multi-hit games this season.


D-Backs P Chase Anderson settles for no decision after seven strong

(12:56 am ET) Diamondbacks starter Chase Anderson gave up one run on three hits in seven innings but settles for a no decision Tuesday against the Rangers.

Anderson lowered his ERA on Tuesday from 4.09 to 3.00. He's still without a decision this season.

Anderson's next start is set for Monday against the Rockies.

Rangers starter Nick Martinez allows one run in six IP for no decision

(12:52 am ET) Rangers starting pitcher Nick Martinez allowed one run on five hits in six innings Tuesday to pull a no decision against the Diamondbacks.

The earned run was his first allowed this season, exiting the game with a 0.45 ERA.

Martinez's next start is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, against the Athletics.

Padres C Derek Norris collects two more hits vs. Rockies

(12:51 am ET) Padres catcher Derek Norris enjoyed his third consecutive game with at least two hits, leading his club to a 7-6 victory over Colorado.

Norris doubled in the third, reached base on a throwing error in the fifth and capped his night off with a doubled to deep right center that scored two runs. He finished 2 for 5 with a run scored and two RBI. He is hitting .500 (7 for 14) with four doubles and three RBI over his last three games. Norris is hitting .321 (18 for 56) with nine runs scored, seven RBI and two walks in 15 games.


Yankees pitchers Chris Capuano, Ivan Nova making progress on rehab

(12:50 am ET) Yankees lefty Chris Capuano (right quadriceps) is scheduled to throw two innings Wednesday in his first extended spring training game and could return in mid-May, while Ivan Nova (right elbow surgery) threw 35 pitches in his third batting practice session and will throw in a simulated game on Friday.

Padres' Wil Myers reaches base four times vs. Colorado

(12:45 am ET) Padres center fielder Wil Myers reached base four times and racked up three hits in Tuesday's 7-6 victory over Colorado.

Myers singled in the fifth, doubled in a run in the seventh and singled in a run in the eighth. He finished 3 for 4 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI. He has two three-hit games this season, all of which have come over the last five days. He is hitting .313 (20 for 64) with six doubles, a home run and 10 RBI over 15 games.


Rockies' Tyler Matzek issues six walks in no-decision vs. San Diego

(12:38 am ET) Rockies pitcher Tyler Matzek endured some command issues and was unable to factor into the decision Tuesday night at home against San Diego.

Matzek allowed a solo home run to Clint Barmes and a run-scoring single to Matt Kemp in the third inning for his only blemishes of the evening. He was charged with two earned runs on four hits and six walks while striking out three over five innings of a 7-6 defeat. Of his 85 pitches, 44 were strikes.

Matzek has allowed only four earned runs over his first 15 innings pitched in three starts. He will look to get back on track and pick up his second win of the season Sunday at home against San Francisco. Matzek allowed one earned run over six innings of work against the Giants on April 15.


Padres closer Craig Kimbrel escapes shaky outing with save No. 5

(12:30 am ET) Padres closer Craig Kimbrel escaped a shaky outing with the save Tuesday night against Colorado.

Pitching in Coors Field, the right-hander surrendered a solo home run to Nick Hundley to open the ninth inning. He settled down by striking out Wilin Rosario and retiring Corey Dickerson and Daniel Descalso to secure a 7-6 victory.

Kimbrel has converted all five of his save opportunities to start the year. He owns a 2.45 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP and an 8:3 K:BB ratio over 7 1/3 innings.


Padres SP Brandon Morrow settles for no-decision vs. Rockies

(12:24 am ET) Padres pitcher Brandon Morrow was unable to factor into the decision Tuesday night against Colorado.

Morrow pitched three scoreless innings before permitting five earned runs between the fourth and fifth innings. He allowed five earned on six hits and one walk while striking out three over six innings of work. Of his 95 pitches, 62 were strikes.

After tossing seven scoreless innings in his first outing of the season, Morrow has allowed seven earned runs on 13 hits over his last two starts (13 innings). He will look for his first win of the season Sunday at home against the Dodgers.


Brewers' Mike Fiers serves up a pair of grand slam HRs

(12:12 am ET) Brewers starting pitcher Mike Fiers became the 10th National League pitcher to serve up a pair of grand slams in a single game during Tuesday's 16-10 loss to the Reds.

Fiers (0-3) allowed a grand slam to Jay Bruce in the third, and another home run with the bases loaded to Todd Frazier in the fourth inning for his only blemishes of the night. He was charged with eight runs -- four earned -- on six hits and three walks while striking out four over four innings pitched.

Fiers became the first pitcher to allow two grand slams in the same game since Daniel Schlereth for the Tigers on June 28, 2011. He will look to get back on track Sunday at home against St. Louis. Fiers allowed two earned runs over 5 2/3 innings on April 16 against the Cardinals.
