Carlos Beltran could play the field during road trip

(11:25 pm ET) Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran has increased to throwing at 100-120 feet, according to MLB.com on Monday. Manager Joe Girardi remains hopeful that he could play the outfield during the team's current road trip. Beltran has been limited to a role as a designated hitter because of the injury.


Hector Rondon saves his 13th game Monday

(11:17 pm ET) Cubs pitcher Hector Rondon saved his 13th game Monday against the Rockies.

Rondon entered the game with a three-run lead, and did not disappoint. He tossed a perfect inning of work, striking out one during the outing. Rondon lowered his ERA to 3.52 with the outing. 


Tsuyoshi Wada picks up his first win Monday

(11:14 pm ET) Cubs pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada picked up his first win of the year Monday.

Wada allowed one run on five hits over seven innings. He struck out six and walked one during the outing. Wada got off to a strong start, tossing five scoreless innings to open the game. In the sixth, Wada ran into trouble. After putting two men on, Wada allowed a run-scoring single to Nolan Arenado. He was able to get out of the inning without giving up an additional runs. 

With the win, Wada improved to 1-1 on the year. He'll take on the Dodgers in his next start. 


Yohan Flande loses despite strong start

(11:09 pm ET) Rockies pitcher Yohan Flande picked up a loss despite a decent start Monday.

Flande allowed two runs on four hits over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out eight and walked one during the outing. Flande ran into trouble in the fourth inning. After giving up a single and a double to open the frame, Flande gave up an RBI ground out. After an intentional walk, Flande allowed a sac fly. The Rockies scored just one run during the game, giving Flande the loss.

Flande is slated to take on the Tigers during his next start.


Dana Eveland's X-ray comes back clean

(11:01 pm ET) Mets pitcher Dana Eveland's X-ray came back clean, according to ESPN.

Eveland took a line drive off his throwing elbow in the ninth inning and had to depart the game. He received an X-ray following the game, but it came back clean. It's unclear if Eveland will need a few days before he's ready to return to action.


Rafael Soriano implodes Monday

(10:55 pm ET) Nationals closer Rafael Soriano imploded Monday against the Rockies. 

Soriano entered the game with a three-run lead, but couldn't hold on. Soriano walked the leadoff batter. He then allowed a double, a run-scoring single, a sac fly and a triple to the next three hitters to tie the game. After a mound visit, Soriano hit Donovan Solano with a pitch. He was removed from the game at that point. Jerry Blevins entered and managed to get a strikeout. With two outs, he allowed a game-winning single. All four runs were charged to Soriano.

In one-third of an inning, he gave up four runs on three hits. He walked one and did not record any strikeouts. With the loss, Soriano fell to 2-1. 


Jordan Zimmermann bounces back Monday

(10:47 pm ET) Nationals pitcher Jordan Zimmermann bounced back with a strong start Monday against the Marlins.

Zimmermann allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings of work. He struck out six and walked one during the outing. Zimmermann cruised along until the seventh inning. After walking Giancarlo Stanton, Zimmermann allowed an RBI triple. He then gave up another run on a single. After a mound visit, Zimmermann got things together, getting a groundout to get out of the inning. 

The Nationals blew a huge lead in the ninth inning, giving him a no-decision. His next start will come against the Phillies. 


Nate Eovaldi struggles, but manages to receive no decision

(10:45 pm ET) Marlins pitcher Nate Eovaldi struggled Monday against the Nationals.

Eovaldi allowed five runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two during the outing. The Nationals struck in the first inning, picking up a run on a sac fly. Eovaldi seemed to settle in at that point, but ran into a ton of trouble in the sixth inning. 

Eovaldi allowed three singles to open the frame. After getting one out, he walked the bases full and was pulled from the game. Bryce Harper then reached on an error, picking up an RBI. Wilson Ramos walked, and Danny Espinosa drove in two with a single. Eovaldi was charged with four earned runs. 

The Marlins were able to mount a comeback in the ninth, giving Eovaldi the no-decision. His next start will come against the Reds. 


Jayson Werth leaves Monday's game with possible leg injury

(10:23 pm ET) Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth left Monday's game against the Rockies with a possible leg injury, according to MLB.com. 

In the seventh inning, Werth hit a single off Sam Dyson. He attempted to stretch it to a double, and was thrown out at second. Werth slid into the base awkwardly, and limped off the field. He was replaced by Nate McLouth the next inning. It's unclear how much time Werth will miss due to the injury.


Travis d'Arnaud turns into a slugging machine Monday

(10:15 pm ET) Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit the ball all over the yard Monday against the Phillies. 

The catcher got in on the action during his first at-bat. He doubled on the first pitch he saw from A.J. Burnett. d'Arnaud would come in to score during the inning. In the fifth, d'Arnaud struck again, taking an 81 mph knuckle curve from Burnett out to left for a three-run shot. He doubled again later in the game. d'Arnaud finished 3 for 4, with two runs scored and three RBI.
