Blue Jays' Miguel Castro injured in Triple-A start
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(6:28 pm ET) Blue Jays pitcher Miguel Castro left Friday's start for Triple-A Buffalo with some type of injury.

Castro was sent down earlier this season and is using his time with Buffalo getting stretched out to convert from the bullpen to the rotation.

He gestured to the dugout in the second inning, after throwing his 44th pitch of the game. After meeting with trainers on the mound, he left the game.

Eduardo Rodriguez remains in Red Sox rotation for another start
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(6:24 pm ET) Eduardo Rodriguez will get at least one more start, as the Red Sox plan to remain with a six-man rotation for at least one more week, per the Boston Herald

Rodriguez is scheduled to start on Wednesday, in Boston.

The Red Sox rotation will have Wade Miley on Saturday and Joe Kelly on Sunday. Clay Buchholz and Rick Porcello will precede Rodriguez, and Steven Wright will follow him.

Miley, Kelly and Buchholz will pitch the series against Oakland, and then the team will decide on a long-term rotation after the off day.

Manager John Farrell said that the Sox won't stay with a six man rotation for long. "I'm not a fan of it," he said, per the Providence Journal.

Mariners P Joe Beimel (personal) away from team; Luetge recalled
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:22 pm ET) The Mariners have called up left-hander Lucas Luetge from Triple-A Tacoma. This will be Luetge's second stint with the Mariners this season. He pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief in a loss on April 25. He has struggled in Triple-A to the tune of a 5.06 ERA in 21 1/3 innings.

Luetge will take the place of reliever Joe Beimel, who will be away from the team for personal reasons, according to iThe Tacoma News Tribune.

Cardinals' Matt Adams out at least four months with full quad tear
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:16 pm ET) Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams underwent surgery on his quad muscle on Friday. The surgery revealed that the muscle was completely torn, and he will miss at least four months in recovery, according to MLB.com.

Adams is more than likely out for the season, though he could possibly be available in the postseason, should the Cardinals play in October.

Braves CF Cameron Maybin has promising matchup Friday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(6:16 pm ET) Braves center fielder Cameron Maybin is finally slowing down at the plate after a nine-game hitting streak. But maybe the sight of Giants right-hander Tim Hudson on the mound Friday night will get him going again.

Maybin is 10-for-25 lifetime against Hudson with one home run and six RBI. He is 3-for-14 in his last four games.

Orioles LF David Lough finally getting chance to play
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(6:03 pm ET) In sports, the misfortune of one often leads to good fortune for another. Such is the case for Orioles left fielder David Lough, who is suddenly receiving some action after the team designated Alejandro De Aza for assignment.

Lough has received his first successive starts since last June. He went 2-for-3 with an RBI and stolen base Thursday night and is in the lineup Friday against Tampa Bay. It remains to be seen if his starting status becomes permanent.

"Whatever I can do to help the team, is what I'm here for," he told MASNSports.com. "Two starts in a row, not what I usually get but will definitely try to take advantage of it."

Like most reserves, Lough understands the difficulty of hitting after coming off the bench cold and hopes that more at-bats will translate to success.

"As hard as anyone can imagine, believe me," he said. "Getting a couple starts and then going on the bench for five or six days can be really tough. It's a tough job, but I've kind of embraced it."

Lough had just eight at-bats since May 16 before landing the starting spot Thursday.

Pirates 3B Josh Harrison gets day off Friday vs. Padres
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:02 pm ET) After starting 15 straight games, Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison is receiving a day off Friday against the Padres. Harrison has been on fire with the bat in that stretch, batting .429 (27 for 63) with two home runs and 11 RBI in those 15 games.

Jung Ho Kang will slide over to the hot corner with Jordy Mercer entering the lineup at shortstop. This is likely just a rest day for Harrison, and he could be back in the lineup on Saturday.

Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal ready to be activated Saturday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5:47 pm ET) Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal has finished his rehab assignment and rejoined the team in St. Louis on Friday. Grandal is currently on the 7-day concussion list, but is likely to be activated in time for Saturday's game, according to the Orange County Register.

Gibbons: Blue Jays C Dioner Navarro likely back early next week
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5:44 pm ET) John Gibbons has stated that Blue Jays backup catcher Dioner Navarro could return early next week, per MLB.com.

Navarro has been out for six weeks with a hamstring injury. He is 1-for-4 with two walks in two rehab games for Triple-A Buffalo.

Mets 3B David Wright (back) gets epidural injections on Monday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5:43 pm ET) Mets third baseman David Wright received epdiural injections on Monday. Wright, who was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, has been seeing a back specialist in California.

Wright is expected to remain in Los Angeles next week, according to ESPN.com. The team has not provided any further details on his progress, though he does not appear close to returning to his rehab assignment.
