Indians make pitching moves

(1:46 pm ET) The Indians optioned lefty T.J. House to Triple-A Columbus and recalled pitcher Austin Adams. House went 1-2 with a 4.40 ERA in nine games, eight starts, with Cleveland. He posted a 1.53 WHIP and allowed seven homers in 45 innings.

Report: Yanks acquire Jeff Francis

(1:42 pm ET) The Yankees traded for pitcher Jeff Francis from the Athletics, reports ESPN. The report did not say what the Yankees gave up.

Francis, 33, was designated for assignment last week after going 0-2 with a 5.89 ERA in 10 appearances with Oakland.


Arismendy Alcantara likely to play center Saturday

(1:38 pm ET) Cubs manager Rick Renteria said infielder Arismendy Alcantara likely will start in center field Saturday against the Braves, reports WGN. Alcantara was scheduled to play second base and bat leadoff Friday.

Alcantara, who had four hits Thursday, can play second, shortstop or center.


Billy Hamilton returns from hamstring injury.

(1:18 pm ET) Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton is back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, after missing one game with a hamstring injury.  

Hamilton was able to pinch-hit Thursday, so his return to the lineup does not come as much of a surprise. 


Zac Rosscup gets the call

(1:02 pm ET) The Cubs recalled pitcher Zac Rosscup from Triple-A Iowa Friday, after sending Blake Parker down.

Rosscup has not pitched with the Cubs since suffering a shoulder injury in mid-May. He threw four scoreless innings for the Cubs prior to suffering the injury.

(12:52 pm ET) The Cubs optioned pitcher Blake Parker to Triple-A Iowa Friday, the team announced.

Parker spent just a few days with the Cubs in his most recent callup, and has allowed six runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings for the Cubs overall this season. 


Tommy Joseph working way back from wrist injury

(11:44 am ET) Phillies catching prospect Tommy Joseph made his return from wrist surgery Thursday, for the Gulf Coast League Phillies.

Joseph, who suffered the injury at Double-A Reading, caught and went 1 for 3 Thursday. He will likely see at least a few more games at the rookie league before he returns to Reading, where he was hitting .282/.345/.551 in 87 at-bats prior to the injury.


Adam Lind hits DL with foot fracture

(11:37 am ET) The Blue Jays officially placed designated hitter Adam Lind on the disabled list Friday, following news that he could miss up to eight weeks with a foot fracture. Lind is still set to have a second opinion to determine a final timeline for his recovery from the injury.

Alex Guerrero homers in return to game action

(11:22 am ET) Dodgers infield prospect Alex Guerrero saw game action for the first time Thursday since undergoing surgery on his ear following a fight.

Guerrero began his rehab assignment with the team's rookie-level affiliate in Arizona, serving as the designated hitter. He went 3 for 5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the game, his first since late May. 


Blue Jays DFA Bobby Korecky Friday

(11:07 am ET) The Blue Jays designated pitcher Bobby Korecky for assignment Friday, to clear up a spot on the 40-man roster.  

Korecky spent some time with the Blue Jays earlier in the season, allowing three runs in 3 1/3 innings of work.
