Phillies prospect J.P. Crawford promoted to Double-A

(11:03 pm ET) The Phillies have promoted shortstop prospect J.P. Crawford to Double-A Reading on Friday, according to Philly.com. Crawford, the team's first-round draft pick in 2013, was batting .392 (29 for 74) in 20 games with Class A Clearwater this season.

Crawford is ranked the 14th best prospect in the game by Baseball America


Mike Napoli, John Farrell ejected for Red Sox

(10:55 pm ET) Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli was ejected from Friday night's game after arguing balls and strikes. 

Napoli was called out on strikes in the top of the eighth inning and took issue with the call. Manager John Farrell was also ejected in the resulting argument. 


Rangers RP Neftali Feliz is throwing; return date uncertain

(10:54 pm ET) Rangers reliever Neftali Feliz has started throwing, but there is still no timetable for his return to the team.

"I've started playing catch and it is feeling better," Feliz said, per MLB,.com. "We've started doing everything we can to get ready to come back."

Feliz was placed on the disabled list on May 20 due to an abscess under his right arm. 


Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg exits Friday with neck tightness

(10:50 pm ET) Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg was removed from Friday's start against the Reds in the bottom of the second inning with neck muscle tightness. Strasburg threw one inning had allowed a solo home run to Joey Votto prior to his departure.

The right-hander, who has experienced back and shoulder pain this season, will be evaluated on Saturday before the team makes any decision, according to MLB.com. His next start, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, is very much up in the air at this point.


Brewers rescind DFA on Brandon Kintzler and place him on DL

(10:44 pm ET) Brewers pitcher Brandon Kintzler's designation for assignment was rescinded by the team on Friday. Instead, the Brewers placed the right-hander on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Thursday, with left knee tendonitis, according to MLB.com.


Diamondbacks release infielder Kevin Frandsen from Triple-A

(10:40 pm ET) The Diamondbacks have released infielder Kevin Frandsen from their Triple-A team, according to AZCentral.com. 

The veteran infielder was signed to a minor league contract on April 21, and was batting .309 (25 for 81) with two doubles and seven RBI in 26 games for Reno. 


Reds 3B Todd Frazier belts home run No. 15 on Friday

(10:36 pm ET) Reds third baseman Todd Frazier continued his hot hitting in Friday's win over the Nationals. Frazier had two hits in four at-bats, including his 15th home run of the season. The seventh-inning solo shot gave the Reds their final 5-2 score.

Frazier has 13 hits in 38 at-bats over his last 10 games, including three home runs. He has been held hitless just once over that stretch.


Reds 1B Joey Votto smacks solo home run in win on Friday

(10:32 pm ET) Reds first baseman Joey Votto got the offensive party started on Friday, as the Reds beat the Nationals 5-2. Votto launched a one-out solo home run in the top of the first inning off Stephen Strasburg to give the Reds the early 1-0 advantage.

The home run was his only hit of the game. It was his eighth longball of the season, but his first since April 28. He now sports a .275 batting average on the season. 


Nationals RHP Taylor Jordan gives long relief in loss on Friday

(10:29 pm ET) Coming in relief of the injured Stephen Strasburg, Nationals pitcher Taylor Jordan pitched decently as he picked up the loss in the 5-2 defeat to the Reds on Friday.

Jordan (0-1), who entered the game in the second inning, tossed 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits while walking two. He struck out one batter on the evening.

Jordan, who was recalled from Triple-A on Sunday, was making his season debut for the Nationals on Friday. He owns a 2.14 ERA over 42 innings in seven starts for Triple-A Syracuse this season. 


Reds closer Aroldis Chapman records eighth save on Friday

(10:24 pm ET) Reds closer Aroldis Chapman nailed down his eighth save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth inning in the 5-2 win over the Nationals on Friday. Chapman gave up one hit and struck out one.

Chapman has been shaky recently, giving up earned runs in two of his last four outings. But he is still a perfect 8-for-8 in save chances this season.
