Astros' Brett Oberholtzer (blister) throws BP, to pitch in extend spring
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(9:24 pm ET) Astros pitcher Brett Oberholtzer (blister) threw live batting practice Monday at the team's minor league complex in Kissimmee, FL, and is expected to pitch in an extend spring game towards the end of the week, according to MLB.com.

Oberholtzer has been out all season with a blister on his index finger.

He was a candidate late in spring training for a spot in the Astros' starting rotation before the blister issue.

Report: Cardinals to place Bourjos on paternity list, call up Harris
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(9:22 pm ET) The Cardinals will reportedly place outfielder Peter Bourjos on the paternity list and call up pitcher Mitch Harris from Triple-A, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Bourjos has appeared in just five games this season and is 0 for 4 at the plate with three stolen bases. Harris has appeared in four games for Triple-A Memphis, posting a 2.45 ERA with two saves in 3 2/3 innings.

Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy leaves game with foot injury
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(9:10 pm ET) Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy was forced to leave Monday's game against the Reds after taking a foul tip off his left foot, the team announced.

Lucroy was replaced by Martin Maldonado at catcher. Lucroy was 0 for 3 in the game before suffering the injury.

Twins shortstop Danny Santana still figuring things out at the plate
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(8:54 pm ET) Twins shortstop Danny Santana hasn't provided the same pop at the plate in 2015 as he did a season ago. So far, Santana is hitting just .195 in 10 games this season after posting a .319 average in 2014 with 41 extra-base hits and 20 stolen bases in 101 games.

Manager Paul Molitor thinks Santana is just trying to do too much at the plate, according to MLB.com.

"Strikeouts are such a bigger part of the game and he's trying to fit the role of a good leadoff guy," Molitor said. "I'm not sure what that even is anymore. Obviously, you want the guy to get on base, score runs and be aggressive on the basepaths. But he knows doesn't walk a lot and is trying to improve that. And then he ends up pressing more. He tries to take pitches and then he's not doing well when he falls behind in the count. So it's kind of a catch-22 right now."

A's SP Jarrod Parker expected to begin rehab assignment Thursday
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(8:52 pm ET) Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker will start Thursday for the team's Class-A affiliate, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

Parker is trying to recover from Tommy John surgery and recently threw three innings in an extended spring training game. He is still about a month away from joining the Athletics.

Yankees CF Jacoby Ellsbury struggling with running game
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(8:48 pm ET) Speedy Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is off to a rough start on the basepaths this season, as he was cut down stealing for the third time in five tries on Monday.

Over the last two seasons, Ellsbury has swiped 91 bags while getting caught just nine times.

Ellsbury led the American League in stolen bases in 2008 and was tops in the majors in 2009 and 2013.

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado scratched from lineup Monday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(8:40 pm ET) Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado was scratched from the starting lineup Monday, according to the Denver Post.

Arenado, who is hitting .311 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 45 at-bats this season, had no issues before the game, but is dealing with a sore left wrist, according to the report. Rafael Ynoa will take his place at third and bat eighth in the game.

Royals' Alcides Escobar on leg injury: I thought my leg was broken
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(8:29 pm ET) After missing two games because of a knee injury, Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar said he was glad to be back in Monday's lineup, reports MLB.com.

"It's good right now and I'm happy to be back in the lineup," Escobar said.

Escobar injured the knee during Friday's game against the Athletics when third baseman Brett Lawrie clipped Escobar's leg as he slid into second base. When the injury occurred, Escobar initially feared the worst.

"I thought I broke my leg or my ankle," Escobar said. "When I see the replay, I say 'Wow. That's hard.'"

Escobar added that he is not concerned about the play moving forward.

"Right now, I'm thinking that it's in the past," he said.

Athletics' Jesse Hahn to miss start Thursday, Jesse Chavez to fill in
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(8:23 pm ET) Athletics pitcher Jesse Hahn will miss his scheduled start Thursday while dealing with a blister on his finger, manager Bob Melvin sadi, per Bay Area News Group.

Hahn was forced to leave his start Saturday after discovering the blister on his right middle finger. Jesse Chavez, who came on in relief for him Saturday, will start in Hahn's place.

Chavez made 21 starts in 2014, posting an 8-8 record with a 3.45 ERA in 146 innings.

Phillies outfielder Ben Revere not changing approach despite slump
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(8:15 pm ET) Phillies outfielder Ben Revere has seen his share of struggles at the plate to start the season. He has gone just 7 for 42 to start the season, but the six-year veteran was able to snag a pair of hits over the weekend to boost his average and possibly break out of an early slump, reports Philly.com.

"No question about it," manager Ryne Sandberg said Sunday. "A little bit more aggressive at home plate to give himself a chance. He hits. He's a .300 hitter. So when he heats up, he really does good things for us."

Revere didn't think his approach needed to change to see better results.

"Of course the average says you need to change something, but the way I've been hitting the ball says I don't," he said over the weekend. "It's just one of those deals. It just [stinks]. . . . You hit the ball hard and you can't show nothing for it."
