Pirates' Deolis Guerra earns first career win

(1:40 am ET) Pirates reliever Deolis Guerra pitched three scoreless innings to earn his first career win, Tuesday against Detroit.

Guerra pitched the 12th, 13th and 14th innings, allowing three hits and striking out three. He hasn't allowed a run or walked a batter in three career appearances. 


Pirates' Tony Watson gives up homer in blown save

(1:37 am ET) Pirates reliever Tony Watson gave up a two-run home run to blow a two-run lead in the eighth inning. The Pirates eventually won in 14 innings. 

Watson allowed his first homer since April 21 and blew his first save opportunity of the year. He's 0 for 5 in his career on save opportunities. 


Tigers' Justin Verlander walks five in no-decision

(1:34 am ET) Tigers starter Justin Verlander walked five batters in six innings on Tuesday. Verlander took a no-decision in the 14-inning loss to Pittsburgh, walking the most batters in a start since July 31, 2013. 

Verlander allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits, while striking out a season-high three. 


Rockies RP LaTroy Hawks earns save Tuesday

(1:32 am ET) Rockies pitcher LaTroy Hawkins pitched a perfect ninth inning to record his second save of the season during Tuesday's 2-1 win over the A's. It was his first save since April 7.

Pirates' Gerrit Cole has first no-decision since April 8

(1:30 am ET) Pirates starter Gerrit Cole had his first no-decision since April 8, his first start of the season, in Tuesday's 14-inning win over Detroit. 

Cole scored two runs on a season-high nine hits over 6 2/3 innings. He didn't walk a batter and struck out six. 

Cole has allowed two runs or fewer in nine of his last 10 starts. 


Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa receives win Tuesday

(1:29 am ET) Rockies pitcher Jorge De La Rosa showed no signs of being slowed by a finger issue during Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Athletics.

De La Rosa did not surrender a run over seven innings of work. He only allowed four hits while striking out four and walking four. He is now 5-3 with a 4.59 ERA.

De La Rosa had to leave his last start prematurely after suffering an issue with his finger. Tuesday was his first quality start in his last three starts.


Albert Pujols, Erick Aybar go back-to-back in Angels win

(1:25 am ET) Angels first baseman Albert Pujols and shortstop Erick Aybar hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning of Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Yankees. 

Pujols went 1 for 4 with his 24th home run and first since June 22. He drove in a run for the second straight game, giving him 49. 

Aybar went 2 for 4 with his second home run and 12th double. 


Athletics SP Chris Bassitt receives loss in Tuesday's start

(1:24 am ET) Athletics pitcher Chris Bassitt produced a solid outing during Tuesday's start against the Rockies, but it was not enough as the A's lost 2-1.

Bassitt allowed one run on five hits over five innings of work. He also struck out three and did not walk a batter during the outing.

Tuesday was his first start of the season. Prior to the start, he had produced a 3.38 ERA over 10 2/3 innings of work.


Brett Gardner hits in eighth straight for Yankees

(1:20 am ET) Yankees center fielder Brett Gardner got one of the team's two hits in Tuesday's loss to the Angels. 

Gardner went 1 for 4 and extended his hitting streak to eight games. He's hitting .486 with 1.379 OPS over the streak. 


Mark Teixeira supplies Yankees' offense with home run

(1:17 am ET) Mark Teixeira hit a solo home run for the Yankees only run and half of the team's hits in a two-hit loss to the Angels on Tuesday. 

Teixeira snapped an 11-game home run drought with his 19th of the year and 54th RBI. He went 1 for 2 with a walk on the day.
