(9:36 pm ET) The Padres sent pitcher Cory Mazzoni to its Triple-A affiliate Tuesday, the team announced.

Mazzoni had a 10.29 ERA over 7 innings this season. He was optioned to make room for Yonder Alonso.


Rangers C Robinson Chirinos has bruised hand, x-rays negative

X-rays came back negative and he will be evaluated again on Wednesday. 

Carlos Corporan came into the game to replace Chirinos. 


Diamondbacks LF scratched from lineup on Tuesday

(8:30 pm ET) Diamondbacks left fielder David Peralta was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Braves. Peralta was hit by a pitch on his finger Sunday and did not play Monday. It appears as if the finger injury is keeping him out of action again on Tuesday.

Mark Trumbo, who was originally held out of the lineup, will be in right field and bat fourth. The team has not indicated if Peralta would be available off the bench on Tuesday.


Rangers' Rua will start rehab; Blanks ready for extended spring games

(7:41 pm ET) Rangers outfielder Ryan Rua (foot) is scheduled to start a minor-league rehab assignment on Wednesday with Triple A Round Rock, while first baseman Kyle Blanks (pilonidal cyst) will go to Arizona for extended spring training work on Thursday, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki returns to lineup for Game 2

(7:32 pm ET) Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will start the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday against the Dodgers, batting third in the order, per the Denver Post. Tulowitzki, who sat out the first game, is hitting .375 (9 for 24) over his last seven games.

Mets' David Wright (back) unsure when he'll return this season

(7:31 pm ET) Mets third baseman David Wright said Tuesday that he will play again in 2015, but he's not sure when, reports MLB.com.

"We're not just talking about playing baseball," Wright said. "We're talking about walking and standing and being pain free."

Wright has been sidelined since April 14 with a back issue. He said he wants to avoid having back surgery, but he is currently taking it week to week.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said the team is looking for help, but they intend to keep Wright as their primary third baseman, reports NJ.com.

"We're not looking for his replacement," Alderson said.


Dodgers' Joc Pederson homers for third straight game

(7:30 pm ET) Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson continued his hot hitting in Tuesday's loss to Colorado in the opening game of a doubleheader. 

Pederson hit a home run for the third straight game. He went 1 for 3 with a walk. His fifteenth homer of the season was a two-run shot in the fourth inning that gave the Dodgers a short-lived lead. 

Pederson now has 29 RBI on the year. 


Ben Paulsen homers in Rockies' win

(7:24 pm ET) Rockies first baseman Ben Paulsen homered and doubled in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. 

Paulsen went deep in the seventh inning, for his fourth homer of the year, driving in his ninth run. He went 2 for 4, scoring twice and adding his fourth double of the season. 


Yankees SS Didi Gregorius given day off on Tuesday

(7:24 pm ET) Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's clash with the Mariners. Gregorius had started each of the last 12 games for the Yankkes, hitting .244 (10 for 41) with a pair of home runs over that stretch.

Stephen Drew will slide over to handle shortstop while Jose Pirela gets the start at second base. 


Michael McKenry homers, drives in three in Rockies' win

(7:18 pm ET) Rockies catcher Michael McKenry hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning of Tuesday's doubleheader opener to put Colorado in front to stay. 

McKenry drove in three on the day, going 2 for 4. He has three home runs and nine RBI on the year.
