(11:29 pm ET) Padres starting pitcher Ian Kennedy struggled with his command during his start against the Phillies on Friday.

Kennedy gave up two runs on two hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. He struck out seven batters but gave up five walks as he struggled with his location.

With the loss, Kennedy dropped to 8-12 on the season with a 3.94 ERA.


Phillies' Jerome Williams records two-inning save

(11:27 pm ET) Phillies pitcher Jerome Williams recorded a two-inning save on Friday against the Padres.

Williams was dominant during his appearance, not giving up a hit or a walk. He now has a 6.02 ERA in 107 2/3 innings this season.


Phillies SP Aaron Nola strikes out six in win over Padres

(11:11 pm ET) Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola was dominant during his start against the Padres on Friday.

Nola allowed just one run on two hits in seven strong innings of work. He struck out six batters and gave up two walks. Nola's only mistake came on a solo home run allowed to San Diego's Justin Upton.

With the win, Nola improved to 5-1 with a 3.26 ERA.


Nationals ace Max Scherzer serves up two homers in loss

(10:55 pm ET) Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer didn't have enough to come up with a win during his start against the Marlins on Friday.

Scherzer allowed four runs on six hits in seven inning. He struck out eight batters but allowed a pair of home runs that proved costly.

With the loss, Scherzer dropped to 11-11 on the season with a 2.88 ERA.


Marlins closer A.J. Ramos earns 23rd save of the year

(10:49 pm ET) Marlins closer A.J. Ramos recorded his 23rd save of the season on Friday against the Nationals.

Ramos gave up a hit and struck out a batter while closing out the ninth inning of the 4-3 victory.

Ramos now has a 2.75 ERA this season.


Marlins SP Adam Conley picks up second win of the season

(10:40 pm ET) Marlins starting pitcher Adam Conley earned his second win of the season on Friday against the Nationals.

Conley allowed three runs on six hits in five innings. He struck out six batters while allowing just one walk. Conley's mistakes during the outing came on a pair of home runs he allowed.

With the win, Conley improved to 2-1 on the season with a 4.96 ERA.


Angels SP Andrew Heaney throws six solid innings in no-decision

(10:24 pm ET) Angels starting pitcher Andrew Heaney was impressive during his start against the Indians on Friday.

Heaney threw six innings of shutout ball before leaving the game with a lead. He struck out three batters and allowed just one walk.

Heaney (5-2) has a 3.11 ERA in 72 1/3 innings of work this season.


Indians closer Cody Allen notches 27th save of the season

(10:14 pm ET) Indians reliever Cody Allen closed out the ninth inning of his team's win over the Angels on Friday, earning his 27th save of the season.

Allen didn't allow a hit or a walk, while striking out a batter in the crisp performance. He now has a 3.62 ERA this season.


Indians' Trevor Bauer strikes out seven in over Angels

(10:07 pm ET) Indians starting pitcher Trevor Bauer was very impressive during his start against the Angels on Friday.

Bauer allowed just one run on five hits in eight solid innings of work. He struck out seven batters while giving up just three walks.

With the win, Bauer improved to 10-10 on the season with a 4.31 ERA.


Tigers SP Matt Boyd gets rocked for five runs in loss

(9:56 pm ET) Tigers starting pitcher Matt Boyd was roughed up during his start against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Boyd allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings. He allowed three home runs and three walks in the sub-par outing.

With the loss, Boyd dropped to 1-5 on the season with a 7.12 ERA.
