D-Backs P Robbie Ray yields 4 runs in loss

(1:24 am ET) Diamondbacks pitcher Robbie Ray surrendered four earned runs in Wednesday night's 4-3 loss to the Dodgers. 

Ray now falls to 2-4 this year with this being his third loss in a row. Ray went six innings, gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out six. Ray has now struck out 18 batters in his past three outings. 

Ray is posting a 2.55 ERA this year in seven starts despite his record. 


Dodgers P Kenley Jansen allows homer, still gets save

(1:19 am ET) Dodgers reliever Kenley Jansen earned his 13th save of the season in Wednesday night's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks. 

Jansen pitched the ninth inning and gave up a run on a David Peralta bomb. He was able to hold on for the save by getting out of the inning with two strikeouts. Jansen now has an ERA of 1.53. 


Dodgers P Brett Anderson strikes out 7 in fifth win of season

(1:17 am ET) Dodgers pitcher Brett Anderson struck out seven batters in Wednesday night's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks. 

Anderson only allowed one run and improved to 5-4 for the season. Anderson has been on a roll of late, allowing just two runs or less in seven of his past eight starts. Anderson now has a 3.00 ERA this season. 


Brewers LF Khris Davis goes hitless in Class A rehab outing

(1:04 am ET) Brewers left fielder Khris Davis went 0 for 3 during a rehab start for Class A Wisconsin on Wednesday.

Davis has been sidelined since late May because of knee surgery.


Rays to activate Matt Moore, option Marc Krauss

(1:00 am ET) The Rays are set to activate pitcher Matt Moore from the 60-day disabled list before Thursday's game against the Indians, according to MLB.com

This was expected as Moore has been slated to start this game. To make room for Moore, the Rays are will option designated hitter Marc Krauss to Triple-A Durham. 

Moore will make his 2015 debut after returning from Tommy John surgery. 


Rays SP Jake Odorizzi impresses in rehab outing

(12:55 am ET) Rays starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi was solid during his first rehab outing for Class A Advanced Charlotte on Wednesday, per MLB.com.

Odorizzi tossed four innings, struck out two batters and allowed one run. He threw 57 pitches and was impressive while recovering from a left oblique strain.

"This is my first time doing a rehab assignment, so it probably went about as well as it could," Odorizzi said. "My arm felt really good, the breaking pitches were really good -- I was surprised with the sharpness after not pitching for three weeks, and it felt like I hadn't skipped a beat. So it was a great sign."
 
Odorizzi said he is on track to return to the team with at least one more rehab start under his belt.
 
"I feel like the stuff I had today, I could have taken into today's [Rays] game and been perfectly fine and out there doing normal things," Odorizzi said. "I was really encouraged with how everything went."


Dodgers P Brandon Beachy gives up 1 run in rehab start

(12:52 am ET) Dodgers pitcher Brandon Beachy allowed one run in five innings during a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, according to MLB.com

Beachy gave up six hits on 80 pitches. Beachy is nearing the end of his recovery from Tommy John surgery and could be a starting option after the All-Star break. 


Yankees RF Carlos Beltran (ribs) didn't swing bat Wednesday

(12:40 am ET) Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran, who is dealing with a rib cage injury, wasn't allowed to swing a bat on Wednesday, per MLB.com.

Beltran suffered the injury on Tuesday against the Angels and was forced to leave the game.


Dodgers OF Carl Crawford leaves minor-league game after HBP

(12:38 am ET) Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford left Wednesday's minor-league rehab game in the third inning after getting hit by a pitch, according to Triple-A affiliate Rancho Cucamonga

Crawford was able to limp off of the field under his own power. Crawford is on the disabled list with a right oblique injury. 


Astros OF George Springer (wrist) could end up on DL

(12:25 am ET) Astros manager A.J. Hinch said outfielder George Springer is expected to head to the disabled list with a wrist injury, according to MLB.com

Springer took a pitch from Edison Volquez off of his wrist and was forced to exit Wednesday's game. The injury is of concern as it appears Springer will miss some extended time.
