Cardinals considering Shelby Miller for Saturday start
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12:40 am ET) The Cardinals are considering Shelby Miller for a start Saturday, according to MLB.com.

Miller has been used out of the bullpen recently, but the move could be temporary. The team will consider Miller for a start Saturday against the Cubs. The team is trying to figure out whether they want to start Carlos Martinez on five days' rest, or give Miller the start. Miller has a 4.25 ERA over 110 innings.

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12:33 am ET) Brewers reliever Francisco Rodriguez picked up a rare win Tuesday against the Reds.

Rodriguez entered with the game tied in the ninth inning. He managed to pitch a scoreless inning, striking out one during the appearance. In the bottom half of the inning, Jonathan Lucroy belted a walkoff home run, making Rodriguez the winner.

With the win, Rodriguez improves to 4-3 on the year.

Soriano entered the game with a three-run lead in the ninth inning. He allowed a leadoff double to open the frame, but settled in shortly after that. Soriano forced two fly outs and one strikeout to finish off Colorado. His ERA dropped to 1.15 following the appearance.

Yohan Flande has a tough time Tuesday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12:24 am ET) Rockies pitcher Yohan Flande had a tough start Tuesday against the Nationals.

Flande allowed four runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked two, and did not record any strikeouts during the outing. Flande was solid to open the game, tossing four scoreless innings. He ran into trouble in the fifth. After giving up a walk and a double to start the inning, Flande allowed a run to score on a Wilson Ramos groundout. Jordan Zimmermann added to the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

The following inning was also troublesome for Flande. Ryan Zimmerman was able to knock in a run on a groundout, while Ramos managed to single in another run. Flande was pulled before either run scored, but he was responsible for both hitters.

Flande managed to escape with a no-decision. His next start is slated to come against the Cubs.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Jordan Zimmermann struggles in Colorado
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12:23 am ET) Nationals pitcher Jordan Zimmermann struggled Tuesday against the Rockies.

Zimmermann gave up four runs on eight hits over five innings. He did not issue any walks, but managed to strike out six during the outing. The usually dependable Zimmermann was pitching out of trouble all night. While he kept the Rockies off the board in the first inning, Zimmermann had to pitch around two base-runners. The scoring started in the second when Zimmermann gave up a leadoff double, and then allowed a triple later in the inning. Nolan Arenado added to the fun in the third with a solo home run. Zimmermann made it through a scoreless fourth inning before giving up a Corey Dickerson solo shot in the fifth. He threw 76 pitches during the outing.

The performance earned Zimmermann a no-decision. His next start will come against the Marlins.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:22 am ET) Rangers pitcher Nick Tepesch was hung with a loss after giving up a walkoff single with one out in his team's 2-1, 14-inning defeat against the Yankees Tuesday.

Tepesch (3-6) was able to retire the first batter he faced in the 14th before surrendering a ground-rule double and two singles to end the game. Since he only threw 12 pitches Tuesday, Tepesch may still make his scheduled start Friday. He owns a 4.87 ERA and 35:23 K:BB ratio in 61 innings.
