Indians' Yan Gomes out of lineup Friday, likely to catch next two
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(8:13 pm ET) Indians catcher Yan Gomes is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners. Gomes was activated off of the disabled list on May 24 and has been catching every-other-game since his return. So, since he caught Thursday's game, he will sit on Friday with Roberto Perez getting the start behind the plate.

However, manager Terry Francona said Gomes is likely to catch Saturday and Sunday, with the team being off Monday, according to MLB.com

Tigers DH Victor Martinez (knee) will meet with team next week
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7:59 pm ET) Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez, on the disabled list with a knee injury, is currently in rehabbing in Florida. Martinez is expected to return to Detroit to meet up with the team next week, but it's unlikely he will be ready to be activated at that time, according to MLB.com.

Manager Brad Ausmus was not able to give an idea of when Martinez might be able to return from the DL.

"I think it's probably too early to try to predict. We originally thought it was going to be 2-3 weeks."

Kelvin Herrera gets win after blowing save for Royals
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(7:46 pm ET) Royals reliever Kelvin Herrera suffered his first blown save since May 25 of last year in Friday's win over the Cubs.

Herrera managed to earn the win, however, evening his record at 1-1 on the season.

Herrera entered in the seventh inning and allowed a solo home run, wiping out a one-run lead. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk in his inning of work, striking out one.

Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg exits Friday's start after one inning
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7:42 pm ET) Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg left his start against the Reds in the bottom of the second inning with an apparent injury. Strasburg, who gave up a run and two hits in an inning of work, was seen heading to the clubhouse with the trainer, though no official word has been given by the team.

Strasburg has been dealing with back and shoulder ailments over the last several weeks. Taylor Jordan replaced him in the bottom of the second.

Strasburg is tenatively scheduled to start Wednesday against the Blue Jays, though there is no indication as to whether or not he will miss that start.
