Brewers RF Ryan Braun not starting vs. Giants on Tuesday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:30 pm ET) Brewers right fielder Ryan Braun has been given the night off and is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants. Braun had started four straight games and 11 of the last 12 for the Brewers.

The 2015 All-Star is 10 for 42 with three home runs and six RBI over that 12 game stretch. Gerardo Parra will get the start in right with Khris Davis in left field on Tuesday.

David Murphy pulled from Indians' lineup, trade with Angels brewing
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(6:28 pm ET) Indians designated hitter David Murphy was pulled from the starting lineup prior to Tuesday's game.

The reason for his being scratched wasn't made apparent. It's possible he's the subject of trade negotiations. A report from the Los Angeles Times said that the Angels were close to finalizing a deal to acquire Murphy.

Jason Kipnis moves from second base to DH to replace Murphy, and Mike Aviles entered the lineup at second base.

Nationals RP Drew Storen moving to set-up role following trade
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:25 pm ET) With the Nationals reportedly set to acquire right-hander Jonathan Papelbon from the Phillies, incumbent closer Drew Storen will be relegated to set-up duties, according to CBS Sports Baseball Inside Jon Heyman.

Storen has had a terrific season so far as the Nationals' closer. He is 29-for-31 in save chances and has a 1.73 ERA this season.

Still, the acquisition will give the Nationals a formidable back-end of the bullpen with a pair of stud closers at manager Matt Williams' disposal.

Mets RP Jenrry Mejia suspended 162 games
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(6:24 pm ET) Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia was suspended 162 games for another positive test for performance-enhancing drugs, the league announced Tuesday.

Mejia tested positive for Stanozolol and Boldenone. He had already served a previous 80-game suspension earlier this season. Mejia is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA over 7 1/3 innings this season.

Brewers activate SP Wily Peralta from DL; option RP David Goforth
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:18 pm ET) Brewers right-hander Wily Peralta has been activated from the 15-day disabled list, and will start Tuesday's game against the Giants. Peralta hasn't pitched for the Brewers since leaving a May 22 start with an oblique injury.

He returns with a 1-5 record and a 4.00 ERA through his first nine starts of the season.

In a corresponding move, the Brewers optioned right-hander David Goforth to Triple-A.

Nationals acquire Jonathan Papelbon from Phillies
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(6:17 pm ET) The Phillies traded closer Jonathan Papelbon to the Nationals on Monday, confirmed CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

Papelbon is 17 for 17 in save opportunities this season with a 1.59 ERA. Papelbon will take over closer duties for the Nationals with Drew Storen being used a setup man.

The Nationals will send pitcher Nick Pivetta to the Phillies, reports the New York Post. Pivetta has been pitching at Double-A.

Diamondbacks C Welington Castillo (elbow) out Tuesday
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(6:09 pm ET) Diamondbacks catcher Welington Castillo, who left Monday's game after being hit by a pitch in the elbow, is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

Oscar Hernandez will fill in for Castillo on Tuesday, and he will hit out of the eighth spot in the lineup.

Rays 1B James Loney sits vs. left-hander on Tuesday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:06 pm ET) Rays first baseman James Loney is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup with the Tigers. Loney is batting just .194 (7 for 36) against left-handers this season. So with southpaw David Price on the hill for the Tigers, Loney will start Tuesday's game on the bench.

Logan Forsythe will fill in at first base and hit cleanup on Tuesday, as Rays manager Kevin Cash has rid his lineup entirely of left-handed swingers.

Rays' Kevin Kiermaier (eye) good to go for Tuesday's game
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5:58 pm ET) Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, who left Monday's game with an eye abrasion, is listed in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

Kiermaier had been bothered by the issue prior to Monday's contest, but he appears good to go for the second game of the series with Detroit. He'll be in center field and bat ninth on Tuesday.

Yankees CF Jacoby Ellsbury (shoulder) returns to lineup Tuesday
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(5:47 pm ET) After missing a game because of a shoulder injury, Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is back in the lineup for his team's game against the Rangers on Tuesday.

Ellsbury missed Monday's game after he received treatment on his injured shoulder. He will start in center field and hit out of the leadoff spot.
