Cashman: Yankees SP Michael Pineda will not be back in August

(3:55 pm ET) Yankees starting pitcher Michael Pineda will miss the entire month of August due to a a right flexor forearm muscle strain that landed him on the disabled list in late July, general manager Brian Cashman told reporters Tuesday.

The right-hander is 9-7 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.22 WHIP through 19 starts. Although, he is 1-4 with a 4.91 ERA in his last six starts.

Reds activate RP Manny Parra from DL, option Kyle Waldrop

(3:37 pm ET) The Reds reinstated reliever Manny Parra, who has been sidelined since July 20 due to a sprained left elbow, from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. To clear a roster spot, outfielder Kyle Waldrop was optioned to Triple-A Louisville.

Braves recall Joey Terdoslavich, Ryan Kelly from Triple-A

(3:32 pm ET) The Braves recalled outfielder Joey Terdoslavich and reliever Ryan Kelly from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. They take the roster spots of Freddie Freeman and Jason Frasor, who were both placed on the disabled list.

Giants CF Angel Pagan unable to start again Tuesday

(3:25 pm ET) Giants center fielder Angel Pagan missed a second straight start Tuesday against the Braves due to issues with both knees. Pagan did pinch-hit Monday, but recorded an out in his only at-bat.

Braves SS Andrelton Simmons sidelined a third straight game

(3:21 pm ET) Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons was sidelined a third straight game Tuesday against the Giants due to a bone bruise in his thumb. He remains day to day.

Since a four-hit game June 20, Simmons is batting .196 (22 for 112) in his last 34 games. He has one double, two RBI, six runs, 11 walks and 11 strikeouts in that span.


Dodgers activate A.J. Ellis, option Austin Barnes to Triple-A

(3:16 pm ET) Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis, who has been sidelined since July 20 due to right knee inflammation, was activated off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. Catcher Austin Barnes was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City to clear a roster spot.

MLB suspends Blue Jays RP Aaron Sanchez for three games

(3:08 pm ET) Blue Jays reliever Aaron Sanchez was suspended three games and fined an undisclosed amount of money for intentionally throwing at Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar on Sunday, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday.

Sanchez was slated to begin his suspension Tuesday, but he said he will appeal and expects to be active this weekend in New York, according to the National Post.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons also received a one-game suspension for coming back on the field following his ejection in the seventh inning. Gibbons will serve his suspension Tuesday, according to a release from MLB.


Matt Boyd to make Tigers debut Wednesday

(3:00 pm ET) The Tigers announced starting pitcher Matt Boyd, who was acquired in a the David Price trade with the Blue Jays last week, will make his Detroit debut Wednesday against the Royals. Buck Farmer was originally slated to start Wednesday.

Daniel Norris and Jairo Labourt were also acquired in the Price trade. Norris made his Tigers debut Sunday and it went extremely well. He allowed one run on four hits and one walk in 7 1/3 innings during a 6-1 win over the Orioles.

Boyd, who is also a left-hander, made two starts this season for Toronto. However, he lost both of them, while posting a 14.85 ERA.

He has had much better success in the minors, going 9-2 with a 1.65 ERA in 19 starts between Double-A and Triple-A this season. In his career, 2013 sixth-round pick is 15-12 with a 2.48 ERA in 272 minor-league innings.


Shoulder injury lands Braves RP Jason Frasor on DL

(2:53 pm ET) Braves reliever Jason Frasor was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a right shoulder strain.

The right-hander has allowed three hits and three walks in 4 2/3 scoreless innings since joining the Atlanta bullpen in mid-July. He also has two holds and four strikeouts.
