Rays' Erasmo Ramirez goes seven innings to pick up win

(6:32 pm ET) Rays starter Erasmo Ramirez tossed a gem Saturday, throwing seven shutout innings to lift Tampa Bay to a 3-0 victory over the Orioles. Ramirez allowed just three hits and struck out seven in his best performance of the season. 

Ramirez, who was making just his sixth start of the season, was economical against the Birds, needing just 84 pitches to get through seven innings, his longest outing of the year. Ramirez improves to 3-2 on the season and lowered his ERA -- which was at 31.50 after his first appearance this year -- to 5.53. 


Todd Cunningham gets call for Braves in left

(6:28 pm ET) Todd Cunningham is in the Braves' starting lineup in left field for Saturday's game. 

Cunningham gets his tenth start of the season in left. It's also his tenth start in the last 15 games. 

He will bat sixth in the order. 


Juan Uribe gets third start in four games for Braves

Uribe has started three of the last four games for Atlanta. He'll hit fifth in the lineup. 


Angels recall INF/OF Efren Navarro on Saturday

(6:26 pm ET) The Angels recalled infielder/outfielder Efren Navarro on Saturday. Navarro is in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Tigers, playing first base and batting eighth. 

This will be Navarro's third stint with the Angels this season. He has four hits in 19 at-bats through his first 12 games with the big league club.

Pitcher Vinnie Pestano was optioned to Triple-A to make room on the 25-man roster, according to the Orange County Register.


Mariners 2B Robinson Cano returns to Saturday's starting lineup

(6:25 pm ET) Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano is finnaly returning from the illness that kept him out of two consecutive games.

Cano will bat in the third spot of the lineup against the Indians on Saturday.

Cano is hitting .251 with a home run and 21 RBI in 187 at-bats this season.


Giants catcher Buster Posey out of the lineup on Saturday

(6:24 pm ET) Giants catcher Buster Posey is out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Braves, the team announced. Posey will be replaced by Andrew Susac, who will bat eighth. 

Posey had played four consecutive games for San Francisco behind the plate and appears to be getting a day off. He is hitting .301 with 27 RBI in 173 at-bats this season. The Giants are currently the favorites (-145) against Atlanta.


Yoenis Cespedes in Tigers' cleanup spot for fourth straight game

(6:24 pm ET) Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said when Victor Martinez went out of the lineup due to injury that J.D. Martinez would likely handle cleanup duties for the Tigers. However, it's been Yoenis Cespedes that's found a home at No. 4, as he will hit cleanup for the fourth straight game on Saturday. 

Cespedes is 2-for-11 with one homer and three RBIs in the last three contests as cleanup hitter, but the Tigers haven't been able to muster much offense as a team, scoring just six runs in their last five games. Cespedes is hitting .308 against Angels starter Jered Weaver in 13 career at-bats. 


Angels SS Erick Aybar (hamstring) still out of lineup on Saturday

(6:22 pm ET) Angels shortstop Erick Aybar remains out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Tigers. Aybar sat out Friday's game after injuring his left hamstring on Thursday.

Aybar believes he is ready to go, but the team decided to give him one more day to recover. He's expected to have a full workout on Saturday, and should be in the lineup on Sunday, according to the Orange Count Register

Grant Green is getting the start at shortstop and batting ninth in Saturday's lineup. 


Rangers OF Ryan Rua taking reps in infield

(6:18 pm ET) Rangers outfielder Ryan Rua is getting closer a going on a reahb assignment. But when he does, he will likely take reps at both infield and outfield positions, according to the Dallas Morning News.

"His big-picture future is probably how we used him at the start of this year," manager Jeff Banister said. "But in the short-term, his versatility, I think we can capitalize on that. Versatility is important in today's game. Elite teams have multiple guys who can do that."

Rua has taken reps at all infield positions while rehabbing the fractured bone in his foot. He is expected to run the bases on Sunday and could begin his rehab assignment as early as Friday.

"Everything has felt good in batting practice," Rua said. "I've done some long-distance half-jogging, half-sprinting and that's felt good. There have been no problems. It's time to push it a little more."


OF Jerry Sands earns start for Indians

(6:15 pm ET) With first baseman Carlos Santana on paternity leave, the Indians shuffled their lineup Saturday against the Mariners, giving right fielder Jerry Sands a start and slotting him eighth in the order. 

Sands, who was called up Thursday, is making his first appearance for Cleveland since April 27, when he was sent down to Triple-A. In 23 MLB at-bats this season, Sands is hitting .348 with four RBIs.
