This makes three straight quality starts for the tall right-hander, and four in his last five appearances. Samardzija (4-2) lowered his season ERA to 3.84 and will look to carry the momentum into his next start Tuesday in Texas against the Rangers.

Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda strikes out eight in win on Wednesday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(4:00 pm ET) Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda allowed one run on six hits in 6 2/3 innings of work in New York's 4-2 win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Pineda, now 6-2, moved his ERA to 3.36 in 64 1/3 innings of work this season. He will look to keep things rolling on Monday against the Mariners.
