Bryant tied the game up at 2-2 in the eighth inning after hitting a solo homer off of Aaron Barrett. Bryant has now homered twice in his past five games. Though he's showed some power in this span, he's only hitting a batting average of .238 during this stretch.

Bryant finished the game 1 for 4. He now has a slash line of .289/.402/.504.

Nationals OF Bryce Harper homers again in loss
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(11:35 pm ET) Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper hit his 17th home run of the season in Tuesday night's 3-2 loss to the Cubs.

His home run came at a needed time, with the Nationals down 1-0 in the top of the seventh. Hitting leadoff that inning, Harper hit a solo shot to tie the game up. It was Harper's lone hit of the game as he finished 1 for 4.

Since entering the majors in 2012, Harper has showed enormous potential. This season, though, it's all come together with the young ballplayer performing as one of the game's best.

Since a three-home run game against the Marlins on May 6, Harper has hit .467 at the plate with 12 of his home runs coming in that span.

For the year, Harper now has a slash line of .331/.467/.734.
