by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:29 am ET) The Indians recalled pitcher Zach McAllister from Triple-A Columbus Saturday, ahead of his start later that day against the White Sox.

McAllister earned his way back to the majors by going 5-0 with a 2.23 ERA in six starts at Columbus.

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:26 am ET) The Indians optioned pitcher Vinnie Pestano to Triple-A Columbus Saturday, to clear a space on the active roster.

Pestano appeared in 10 games in his most recent stint with the Indians' bullpen, allowing just one run and five hits in 6 1/3 innings of work.

Collin McHugh headed for DL
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:21 am ET) The Astros will place Collin McHugh on the 15-day disabled list Saturday according to the Houston Chronicle, to make room for the callup of Saturday's starter Brett Oberholtzer on the active roster.

The move will be retroactive to July 7, meaning McHugh can return from the DL July 22, during the team's second series back from the All-Star break. He may miss just one turn in the rotation due to a finger injury, assuming the injury heals while he is on the shelf.

Alberto Callaspo's hamstring not a serious issue
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:16 am ET) Angels infielder Alberto Callaspo's hamstring injury could keep him out through the remainder of the team's series in Seattle this weekend, but it does not appear to be a long-term issue.

Callaspo told MLB.com after the game Friday he thinks he will be back after the All-Star break, without a trip to the disabled list.

Christian Vazquez drives in three in second game
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:10 am ET) Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez made a big impact in his second major-league game Friday, an 8-3 win over the Astros.

Vazquez went hitless in his major-league debut Wednesday, but made up for it Friday. He was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and two doubles. He drove in runs with each of those doubles, finishing the game with three driven in during the win.

Vazquez is now 3 for 7 in his first two major-league games.

Jose Reyes drives in two runs in win
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:02 am ET) Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes has been dealing with a shoulder injury in recent days, but it hasn't affected his swing as he extended his hitting streak to seven games in an 8-5 win over the Rays.

Reyes put together his third multi-hit game in a row Friday, and he drove in two runs in the win with his fourth-inning RBI single. He finished the game 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two driven in.

Reyes is 9 for 15 over his last three games, and has raised his average from .258 to .274 over the course of his hitting streak.

Nick Swisher goes deep in victory
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10:45 am ET) Indians outfielder Nick Swisher extended his modest hitting streak to seven games Friday, in a 7-4 win over the White Sox.

Swisher hit his third home run in five games as well Friday, as clubbed a two-run home run in the fifth inning to win the game. He finished the game 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two drive in during the win.

Swisher is hitting .310 with three home runs and seven RBI during his seven-game hitting streak, raising his average to .207.

Pedro Alvarez goes deep early in loss
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10:38 am ET) Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez homered for the second time in four games Friday, in a 6-5 loss to the Reds.

Alvarez had just one hit in the game, a three-run home run that gave the Pirates the lead in the fourth. He finished the game 1 for 3 with a walk, one run scored and three driven in during the loss.

Alvarez has two home runs in 11 July games, and is hitting .242/.306/.455 in 33 at-bats during the month.

Steve Clevenger getting the call Saturday
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10:28 am ET) The Orioles will recall catcher Steve Clevenger from Triple-A Norfolk Saturday, MASNSports.com reports. A corresponding move has not yet been announced.

Clevenger hit .243/.400/.378 in 24 games with the Orioles earlier in the season.

Lucas Duda continues hot hitting with homer
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10:21 am ET) Mets first baseman Lucas Duda continued his season turnaround Friday, as he went deep in a 7-1 win over the Marlins.

The Mets jumped on the Marlins early in the game, and Duda was a big part of that. He slugged a two-run home run in the third inning to put the Mets up 4-0, with his only hit of the game. He was 1 for 4 with one run scored and two driven in.

Duda is now hitting .300/.432/.600 with two home runs and seven RBI in 10 games during the month of July.
