Cubs' Addison Russell delivers three-run double vs. Reds

(4:37 pm ET) Cubs second baseman Addison Russell went 1 for 4 with a three-run double in his team's 5-2 win over the Reds Sunday.

Russell bases-clearing double extended his team's lead to 5-0 in the fourth inning and provided the margin of victory for the Cubs. The double was the second in three games for Russell, who has hit just .136/.136/.227 with 12 strikeouts in 22 at-bats.


Cubs' Miguel Montero homers, drives in two runs in win Sunday

(4:30 pm ET) Cubs catcher Miguel Montero went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI in his team's 5-2 win over the Reds Sunday.

Montero kicked off the day's scoring with a solo home run in the second inning, then pushed his team's lead to 2-0 with an RBI single in the fourth. He scored a run later in the inning on a three-run double by rookie Addison Russell.

Montero has endured spotty playing time with the Cubs carrying three catchers, but he's managed to deliver a .211/.304/.474 line with three home runs and nine RBI in 38 at-bats.


Tigers OF Rajai Davis leaves game with groin injury

(4:27 pm ET) Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis left Sunday's game against the Reds with a tight right groin, the team announced. 

Davis is considered day-to-day. Before exiting the game, Davis had a great game from the plate. He went 3 for 4 and scored three runs. He's now hitting .341/.449/.488 for the season. 


Seven straight hits for Rays' Evan Longoria

(4:26 pm ET) Rays third baseman Evan Longoria followed up Saturday's 4-for-4 day with a 3-for-3 performance on Sunday. Longoria has now hit in five straight games and lifted his average to .306.


Marlins' Dee Gordon racks up four hits vs. Nationals Sunday

(4:15 pm ET) Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon went 4 for 5 in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Nationals but did not have any runs, RBI or extra-base hits.

The four-hit performance caps off a big series for the second baseman, as Gordon went 8 for 13 with one walk, one RBI and one stolen base during his team's three-game sweep of the Nationals. He has hit .390/.407/.463 with eight stolen bases, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored in 82 at-bats.


Brandon Guyer homers, drives in four for Rays

(4:15 pm ET) Rays left fielder Brandon Guyer hit a solo home run and drove in four in Sunday's win over Toronto. 

Guyer went 2 for 4, lifting his average to .250. He started the scoring with a first-inning leadoff homer, his first of the season. Guyer now has seven RBI's on the year. 


Blue Jays' Mark Buehrle suffers first loss of year

(4:11 pm ET) Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle dropped to 3-1 with his first loss of the year to Tampa Bay on Sunday. 

Buehrle was shelled for 13 hits and five runs over five and two thirds innings. He walked one and struck out three. 

Buehrle threw 63 strikes in 83 pitches and saw his ERA grow to 4.94. His next start is scheduled for Friday, at Cleveland. 


Under best-case scenario, Rays' Jake McGee could return May 5

(4:07 pm ET) There is a chance that Rays pitcher Jake McGee returns by May 5 to face the Red Sox, according to MLB.com. 

McGee, who has been recovering from elbow surgery, is scheduled to make rehab appearances on Tuesday and Friday. He said that if everything goes well, there's a chance he could be back with the Rays for a May 5 start in Boston. 

If not, that day will be treated as another rehab start. 

"My velo is good," McGee said. "Everything depends on location and recovery."


Chris Archer wins third game of year for Rays

(4:07 pm ET) Chris Archer moved to 3-2 on the year with a win Sunday for the Rays over Toronto. Archer threw seven shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk, while striking out seven.

Archer threw 64 strikes in 93 pitches and lowered his ERA to 0.84.

Archer's next start is scheduled for Friday, at Baltimore.  


Nationals' Bryce Harper slugs fifth home run Sunday

(4:06 pm ET) Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper went 1 for 4 with a solo home run in his team's 6-2 loss to the Marlins Sunday.

Harper kicked off the scoring with his second-inning home run, but it wasn't enough for the Nationals to avoid a sweep at the hands of their division rivals. The home run was his first of the week but already his fifth of the season. Harper has hit .270/.420/.524 with five home runs, 11 RBI and 17 walks in 63 at-bats.
