Jose Iglesias rises to occasion
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9:47 pm ET) With Stephen Drew taking the day off to rest, Red Sox infielder Jose Iglesias rose to the opportunity as he had a productive day at the dish Saturday against the Indians.

Iglesias slapped a run-scoring double in the fourth inning and finished 3 for 4 with two runs scored in a 7-4 win. He is hitting .400 (6 for 15) in his last four games played. Iglesias has only appeared in eight games this season.

"It's clear he's extremely confident and he believes in himself," manager John Farrell told The Boston Globe. "You see it in his actions, the way he carries himself. It's not in a disrespectful way. He is very sure of himself. We saw it as spring training unfolded. It was reinforced in the time he was here through the time he was here before Stephen [Drew] returned to us. He comes back to us again and he's a strong believer in himself and his abilities to play at this level."

Joe Maddon remains confident in Fernando Rodney
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9:40 pm ET) Rays manager Joe Maddon told The Tampa Tribune following Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Yankees in extra innings that he remains confident in closer Fernando Rodney.

Rodney gave up two runs in the ninth and blew his fifth save. Rodney has allowed seven runs over his last 4 2/3 innings. He has converted two of his last five save opportunities over that span.

Colby Lewis allows three runs in rehab start
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9:35 pm ET) Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis, who was pulled from a previous rehab assignment with triceps inflammation, made a minor-league rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock Saturday.

Lewis permitted three runs and six hits over four innings. Lewis was unsure of his velocity but told reporters his outing was definitely better than Monday. He clocked 85-86 mph Tuesday.

"I still have work to do," he said.

Josh Johnson with strong rehab outing
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9:24 pm ET) Blue Jays starter Josh Johnson moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Buffalo Saturday afternoon.

Johnson threw four scoreless innings in his first Triple-A start. He gave up a hit and a walk while striking out three. Johnson is expected to make at least two more starts before rejoining the rotation.

"I'm pretty happy. I wish my fastball command was better but the positive part is my slider was there to back me up and my curveball," he said. "I had a good sinker today, too. I was using both sides of the plate with everything, so it's a build-on."

Carlos Ruiz feeling good about rehab
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9:10 pm ET) Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz, who is on the disabled list with a hamstring strain, is happy with his progress in rehab, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

"I feel good and have been feeling better each day," Ruiz said Saturday. "But I also want to be careful and not do too much."

Ruiz took some swings in the batting cage Friday under the supervision of trainer Scott Sheridan. He is expected to return in mid-June.

Chris Getz gets tossed
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9:07 pm ET) Royals infielder Chris Getz was ejected in the sixth inning Saturday against the Angels by first base umpire Marty Foster. Getz was tossed after arguing with the umpire over his call on a double play in the previous inning. It was his second career ejection.

Getz was hitless in three at-bats, lowering his batting average to .208.

Asdrubal Cabrera heating up
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9:02 pm ET) Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera extended his hitting streak to five games Saturday with three hits in a 7-4 loss to the Red Sox.

Cabrera went 3 for 5 with an RBI double in the third inning. He scored a run and had two steals. He is hitting .263 but is batting .366 over the last 10 games, with five multi-hit efforts.

Fernando Rodney crumbles again in the ninth
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8:59 pm ET) Rays closer Fernando Rodney continued to struggle as he blew his league-leading fifth save Saturday against the Yankees.

Rodney, who entered the game in the ninth with a two-run lead, surrendered a two-out, run-scoring double to Brennan Boesch and a run-scoring single to Brett Gardner to tie the game. He was charged with two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one in his inning.

Rodney has allowed seven runs over his last 4 2/3 innings. He has converted two of his last five save opportunities over that span.

Jeurys Familia throws perfect inning in first rehab appearance
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:58 pm ET) Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia threw a perfect eighth inning for Class A St. Lucie in his first rehab appearance, striking out one. He hadn't pitched since May 9 due to biceps tendinitis.

Familia has a 3.48 ERA and seven strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings with the Mets this season.

Emilio Bonifacio hits rare homer
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:57 pm ET) Light-hitting Blue Jays infielder Emilio Bonifacio provided a rare glimpse of pop Saturday against the Red Sox, hitting his first home run of the season in a 6-5 loss.

Bonifacio went 1 for 4 and it was his first homer since July 23. He is batting .212, although he has 11 extra-base hits in 118 at-bats.
