Tigers OF Rajai Davis dealing with finger injury

(11:51 am ET) Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis recently admitted that he has been bothered by a finger injury on his left hand, which has affected his swing, reports the Detroit Free Press.

"I don't put that finger on the bat," Davis said. "Swing without it."

Over 91 games this season, Davis is hitting .243 with four home runs and 18 RBI.


Yankees may use Alex Rodriguez at first base

(11:45 am ET) With Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira sidelined with a bone bruise in his leg, manager Joe Girardi said the team may turn to designated hitter Alex Rodriguez to fill in at first, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Rodriguez is hitting .255 with 26 home runs and 69 RBI in 420 at-bats this season.


Red Sox to use Jean Machi as closer; Junichi Tazawa will setup

With Machi in the closer's role, the team will use Junichi Tazawa as their setup man in the eighth inning.


Royals' Alex Gordon to play 4-5 games per week

(11:32 am ET) When Royals outfielder Alex Gordon is activated from the disabled list, manager Ned Yost said Gordon will play four to five games per week, reports the Kansas City Star.

Gordon has been rehabbing his injured groin at Triple-A and is expected to be activated next week.

"He feels really good," Yost said. "He's running at about 90 percent, which is good. He's taking walks, fouling off pitches, getting hits. He's doing a lot of really good things. I just want to make sure that he's ready when he gets here."


Mets expect to activate Bobby Parnell on Tuesday

Meanwhile, the team called up pitcher Mayckol Guaipe, who produced a 7.50 ERA over 12 innings earlier this season.


Mets pitcher Steven Matz will be starter upon return

Mariners SS Ketel Marte not in Sunday's lineup

Marte was forced to exit Saturday's game after suffering a hamstring strain. He was replaced in the lineup by Brad Miller, who will bat eighth.
