Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado goes yard again on Saturday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:52 pm ET) Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado continued his recent power surge in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Phillies. Arenado went 2 for 4 with his 11th home run of the year.

Arenado's solo shot in the top of the second tied the game at one. It was his fourth home run in his last six games.

Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel strikes out 11 in complete game shutout
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(6:52 pm ET) Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel tossed a complete game shutout on Saturday in Chicago's 3-0 win over the White Sox.

Keuchel was magnificent on Saturday, recording a career-high 11 strikeouts and no walks in the contest. He allowed just one baserunner to reach third in the game, but finished off the inning with two strikeouts to work out of the jam. It was just Keuchel's second complete game of the season after recording five in 2014. Keuchel, now 7-1, moved his ERA to 1.76 in 81 2/3 innings of work.

He will look to keep things rolling Thursday against the Orioles.

Rays DH Joey Butler cracks solo HR to spark offense
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(6:50 pm ET) Rays designated hitter Joey Butler continued his solid May by going 2-for-3 with a solo homer Saturday in Tampa Bay's 3-0 victory over the Orioles.

Butler connected for a two-out solo shot in the third to provide the Rays with all the offense they would need as they snapped a six-game losing streak. Butler raised his average to .309 and is hitting .292 with two homers and seven RBIs in May.

Rockies SP Eddie Butler beats Phillies on Saturday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:49 pm ET) Rockies starter Eddie Butler was solid in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Phillies. Butler limited the Phillies' offense to just one run on four hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out three, as he kept the Phillies off the bases for most of the game.

The only run he gave up came on a first-inning RBI double from Ryan Howard. Butler (3-5) lowered his ERA to 4.22 with Saturday's quality performance.

He's scheduled to make his next start on Wednesday at home against the Dodgers.

Yankees OF Ramon Flores makes MLB debut on Saturday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:45 pm ET) Yankees' Ramon Flores is making his Major League debut, as he is in Saturday's starting lineup against the Tigers. Flores will start in left field and bat seventh for manager Joe Girardi.

Flores was promoted from Triple-A on Friday to replace the injured Slade Heathcott. Flores had four home runs and 15 RBI in 42 games with Scranton.

Wei-Yin Chen hard-luck loser for Orioles
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(6:45 pm ET) Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen put together another quality start Saturday but it wasn't enough in a 3-0 loss to the Rays, continuing a tough trend for the pitcher.

It's the ninth time in 10 starts that Chen has allowed three or fewer earned runs, but during that time span, he's only got one win on his ledger. Chen allowed single runs in each of the first three innings, but wound up going seven innings, scattering six hits while striking out four.

Chen falls to 1-4 on the season but has a solid ERA of 3.21.

Orioles CF Adam Jones has mild ankle sprain, manager says
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:40 pm ET) Orioles manager Buck Showalter said center fielder Adam Jones was absent from Saturday's lineup due to a mild ankle sprain. Jones underwent an X-ray and an MRI to confirm the diagnosis.

Jones initially injured the ankle while sliding at home on Friday, and he is listed as day-to-day, according to the Baltimore Sun. His status for Sunday's series-finale is uncertain.

Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar ejected
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(6:40 pm ET) Nationals third baseman Yunel Escobar was tossed from Saturday's game against the Reds in the seventh inning for arguing balls and strikes, per MLB.com.

Escobar, who had two hits earlier in the game, struck out looking in the seventh and drew a quick hook from home plate umpire Andy Fletcher, apparently for disagreeing with Fletcher's strike zone.

Escobar left the game hitting 2-for-4 and his average is at .318 on the season.

Phillies SP Aaron Harang posts quality start, gets tough-luck loss
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:35 pm ET) Phillies starter Aaron Harang posted another quality start, but earned a tough-luck loss in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Rockies. Harang went six innings, limiting the Rockies to two runs on four hits.

He struck out seven and did not walk a batter. He did need 109 pitches to make it through the sixth, but it was a solid outing nonetheless.

The only runs to go against Harang came on solo home runs from Nolan Arenado and Michael McKenry. Otherwise, Harang was brilliant yet again. The veteran right-hander has now thrown six straight quality starts, as his ERA actually rose to 2.02 following Saturday's performance.

He'll look to keep the good times rolling in his next start, scheduled for Friday at home against the Giants.

Rays' Erasmo Ramirez goes seven innings to pick up win
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(6:32 pm ET) Rays starter Erasmo Ramirez tossed a gem Saturday, throwing seven shutout innings to lift Tampa Bay to a 3-0 victory over the Orioles. Ramirez allowed just three hits and struck out seven in his best performance of the season.

Ramirez, who was making just his sixth start of the season, was economical against the Birds, needing just 84 pitches to get through seven innings, his longest outing of the year. Ramirez improves to 3-2 on the season and lowered his ERA -- which was at 31.50 after his first appearance this year -- to 5.53.
