Vidal Nuno settles for a no-decision
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8:36 pm ET) Yankees starter Vidal Nuno made his first start since being skipped in the rotation Saturday against the Rays. Nova, who made his first start since May 13, surrendered two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over six innings of work as he settled for a no-decision.

Nova has allowed just three runs over 14 innings of work in the majors. He is scheduled to make his next start Thursday at home against the Mets.

Anthony Rizzo snaps out of slump
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:35 pm ET) Coming into Saturday's game against the Reds, Cubs manager Dale Sveum was asked whether he had considered giving first baseman Anthony Rizzo a day off, in order to help fix an 0-for-22 slide over his previous five games. Svuem dismissed the notion.

"Not yet," Sveum told MLB.com. "Obviously, it's a thought, but I don't think we're quite there yet."

Rizzo rewarded his manager's patience, going 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles in a 5-2 loss. Rizzo gave the Cubs an early lead with an RBI double, and finished with one run scored, one walk and one RBI.

Svuem told MLB.com before the game that he felt like Rizzo's swing had too much movement in it recently, a problem he apparently fixed.

"Everything spirals when you try to do too much," Rizzo said. "That's what I always say is try not to do too much, which is hard to do. It's part of a season. This is one of the worst [streaks] I've ever gone through. You have to keep working and keep battling."

Aroldis Chapman strikes out two for save
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:30 pm ET) Reds closer Aroldis Chapman threw a perfect ninth inning for his 12th save of the season and fourth in a row Saturday against the Cubs.

Chapman struck out two batters on 13 pitches in the inning, his fourth outing in a row with multiple strikeouts.  Chapman has allowed just two hits and a walk in four innings since he blew back to back saves.

Chapman now has 12 saves in 14 opportunities, with a 2.74 ERA in 25 appearances. Chapman has 39 strikeouts and 10 walks in 23 innings of work.

Andrew Bailey gets first save since injury
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:29 pm ET) Red Sox closer Andrew Bailey took advantage of his first save opportunity since returning from the disabled list Saturday, as he closed down a 7-4 win over the Indians.

Bailey allowed one hit in the outing, but ended things pretty easily, needed just 15 pitches to do so. He struck out one batter, to lower his ERA to 1.88. Bailey has six saves in a row since April 17.

John Gast leaves game with shoulder tightness
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:22 pm ET) Cardinals starting pitcher John Gast left Saturday's start in the second inning with shoulder tightness, the team announced. He faced just one batter in the second inning before leaving.

Gast gave up one earned run on one hit and two walks Saturday, giving him a 5.11 ERA with the Cardinals.

Doug Fister bounces back in losing effort
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8:22 pm ET) Tigers starting pitcher Doug Fister turned in a solid performance as he struck out seven but suffered his second loss of the season Saturday afternoon against the Twins.

Fister, who made his 10th start of the season, gave up three runs in the opening frame, including a solo shot to Joe Mauer. The right-hander permitted three runs on eight hits and one walk over eight innings of work in a 3-2 defeat.

Fister has allowed three earned runs or fewer in all five of his starts at home this season. He is scheduled to make his next start Thursday at Pittsburgh. He is 1-1 with a 4.23 ERA in five starts away from home.

Jim Johnson puts trouble behind him for save
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:20 pm ET) Orioles closer Jim Johnson entered Saturday's game against the Blue Jays having gone a stretch of four appearances and over two weeks without a save. However, he had no problem getting back on the wagon, tossing a scoreless ninth in a 6-5 win.

Johnson needed 14 pitches to end the outing, striking out one batter. He picked up his 15 save in 18 opportunities, while lowering his ERA to 3.86.

Pirates tee off on Mike Fiers
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:18 pm ET) Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers' return to the rotation did not go as planned Saturday, as he gave up three home runs in a 5-2 loss to the Pirates.

Fiers did a good job keeping the Pirates off the basepaths, allowing five hits and no walks in four innings, but allowed a home run in three of the four innings. Fiers was tagged for four runs in the game, and he earned the loss in a 5-2 final.

Fiers struck out five batters and was pulled after throwing just 67 pitches. His ERA rose to 6.62, while his record fell to 1-3. He has now allowed 10 runs in nine innings over the course of two starts.

Fiers may not get another chance to start for the Brewers, as Kyle Lohse is aiming to return to the rotation Thursday against the Twins, which would be the next turn for Fiers.

Buster Posey has three hits in win
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:17 pm ET) Giants catcher Buster Posey was 3 for 5 Saturday against the Rockies to extend his hitting streak to nine games. He also scored twice while raising his batting average to .312, a season high for the reigning MVP.

Angel Pagan hits walk-off inside-the-park home run
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:14 pm ET) Giants center fielder Angel Pagan went 2 for 6 in Saturday's extra-innings game against the Rockies, hitting a game-winning inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the 10th.

It was Pagan's third home run, and he's on a five-game hitting streak. He is hitting .262.
