Steve Pearce misses fourth straight with abdominal strain

(3:21 pm ET) Orioles first baseman Steve Pearce is out of the lineup yet again Tuesday, as he continues to deal with an abdominal strain. Pearce has not played since leaving Friday's game due to the injury, which has now cost him four games. 

J.J. Hardy sidelined by back injury Tuesday

White Sox add seven to active roster

(3:16 pm ET) The White Sox purchased the contract of outfielder Michael Taylor from Triple-A Charlotte Tuesday, one of seven roster moves made as part of September roster expansion.

The team also announced the recall of pitchers Chris Bassitt, Scott Carroll and Eric Surkam, outfielder Jordan Danks, catcher Josh Phegley and infielder Marcus Semien


Anthony Rizzo out yet again Tuesday

(3:08 pm ET) Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Brewers, as he continues to deal with a back injury. He has now missed eight games in a row as a result of this injury, the extent of which is still not known.

Manny Machado moved to 60-day DL

(3:06 pm ET) The Orioles transferred third baseman Manny Machado to the 60-disabled list Tuesday in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

Machado was already ruled out for the season following knee surgery, so this doesn't change anything. He is set to be ready in time for next season's spring training. 


Injury won't allow Mike Olt to return in September

(2:59 pm ET) Cubs third baseman Mike Olt will not join the team for September roster expansion reports MLB.com, due to a hamstring injury that ended his season at Triple-A Iowa.

Olt has been sidelined since Aug. 19 and was not included with the team's callups in the first few days of the month. Olt hit .139/.222/.353 in 187 at-bats with the Cubs, but was hitting .302 in 106 at-bats prior to the injury at Triple-A. 


Ryan Raburn back in the lineup Tuesday

(2:44 pm ET) The Indians activated outfielder Ryan Raburn from the disabled list Tuesday, after he overcame a wrist injury.

Raburn has been out since Aug. 17 as a result of the injury, and is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers. He went 6 for 28 on his minor-league rehab assignment.  


Cubs add seven as rosters expand

(2:32 pm ET) The Cubs added seven players to their expanded roster Tuesday, the team announced.

The team called up pitchers Brian Schlitter, Dan Straily, Arodys Vizcaino and Zac Rosscup , along with outfielder Junior Lake , while selecting the contracts of pitcher Eric Jokisch and catcher Rafael Lopez from Triple-A Iowa. 


Justin Ruggiano moved to 60-day DL

(2:04 pm ET) The Cubs moved outfielder Justin Ruggiano to the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, just a few days after he underwent season-ending ankle surgery in recent days. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster.

Ruggiano finished the season hitting .281/.337/.429 in 224 at-bats, with six home runs and 28 RBI as a part-time player.
