One of Johnson's biggest issues the last two years was his declining contact rate. Johnson only made contact with about 71 percent of pitches over the last two years. He's managed to increase his rate to 79.6 percent to begin this season.
Johnson has always shown decent power and speed numbers, even during his down years. With an increased contact rate, Johnson has been able to add a strong slash line to that production. Johnson is hitting .274/.348/.492 in 124 at-bats. Fantasy owners should take note. As long as Johnson is making better contact, his resurgence should continue.
