Escobar is dealing with a jammed shoulder. He has been sidelined since September 16 due to the issue.


Oswaldo Arcia returns to action Friday

(6:05 pm ET) Twins outfielder Oswaldo Arcia returned to the starting lineup Friday.

Arcia had been sidelined with a back injury. He has not played since September 15 due to the issue. Arcia is hitting .231/.304/.456 over 333 at-bats.


Anthony Swarzak gets the nod Sunday

(5:49 pm ET) Twins pitcher Anthony Swarzak will start Sunday against the Indians.

Swarzak will take the place of Tommy Milone. Milone is dealing with a neck issue, and has been scratched from the start. Swarzak has a 4.42 ERA over 77 1/3 innings.

(5:47 pm ET) Twins pitcher Tommy Milone will miss his Sunday start, according to MLB.com.

Milone is dealing with neck stiffness. He was slated to start Monday, but was scratched due to the issue. With Milone unable to go, Anthony Swarzak will get the nod. 


Ryan Zimmerman to be activated Saturday

(5:44 pm ET) Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman played seven innings in Viera, Fla. on Friday and is expected to be activated from the disabled list prior to Saturday's game against the Marlins, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic reports. Zimmerman has been recovering from a hamstring injury that has prevented him from playing since July 22. He has had just 195 at-bats in 2014.

Josh Hamilton out Friday

Hamilton is dealing with shoulder issues. He has not played since September 16 due to the issue. Hamilton is hitting .263/.331/.414 over 338 at-bats.


Mark Trumbo, Jake Lamb return to action in Colorado

(5:39 pm ET) Two Diamondbacks starters returned to action Friday night in Colorado.

First baseman Mark Trumbo, who has not played since Wednesday because of back issue, is batting fifth. Third baseman Jake Lamb is also back and batting right behind Trumbo at the No. 6 spot. He missed nearly a week of action because of a quad injury.

David Peralta could be back by Saturday

(5:35 pm ET) Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta was held out of the starting lineup again on Friday against Colorado because of a back issue. He has been sidelined since Sept. 5 because of the injury.

Peralta is available to pinch hit on Friday and could return as early as Saturday. He hitting .293 with seven homers and 34 RBI over 304 at-bats.

Evan Gattis unable to pass kidney stone

(5:29 pm ET) Braves catcher Evan Gattis is still not ready to return to action. He hasn't been able to pass a kidney stone, because it's not positioned in a spot that causes what is often "intolerable pain," per MLB.com on Friday.

Gattis, who has only played in 102 games this season, owns a stat line of .270/.325/.507. His status for the final week of the season remains uncertain.

Andrelton Simmons back in action Friday

(5:25 pm ET) Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons returned to the starting lineup, hitting second Friday night at home against the Mets. Simmons was removed from Wednesday's game against the Nationals after aggravating an ankle injury. He is hitting .251/.297/.374 on the year.
