Astros closer Luke Gregerson notches 22nd save of the season

(5:25 pm ET) Astros closer Luke Gregerson helped his team to a win on Sunday against the Diamondbacks by closing out the ninth inning and picking up his 22nd save of the season.

Gregerson picked up the save with relative ease, as he allowed just one hit before putting the game away. He has a 3.12 ERA in 40 1/3 innings of relief this season.


Brad Boxberger notches 26th save for Rays

(5:22 pm ET) Rays closer Brad Boxberger pitched a perfect ninth, striking out the side and preserving a one-run lead over Boston on Sunday. 

Boxberger recorded his 26th save of the year and 10th straight converted save opportunity. 

Boxberger has eight scoreless outings in his last nine appearances.  


Mets RP Erik Goeddel launches rehab stint Sunday in Class A

(5:21 pm ET) Mets reliever Erik Goeddel began his rehab assignment Sunday for Class A St. Lucie, per ESPN. He has been sidelined since early June with a right elbow strain.

He allowed one run on three singles in the eighth inning. He fanned one and tossed 22 pitches in the appearance.


Astros SP Collin McHugh shuts down Arizona in win Sunday

(5:19 pm ET) Astros starting pitcher Collin McHugh was dominant during his start against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

McHugh allowed only one run on eight hits over seven strong innings of work. He struck out six batters and gave up just one walk while picking up his 13th win of the season.

With the win, McHugh improved to 13-5 on the year with a 4.27 ERA.


Wade Miley takes no-decision for Red Sox

(5:19 pm ET) Red Sox starter Wade Miley allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings, but he took a no-decision after the Boston bullpen blew a save against Tampa Bay on Sunday. 

Miley's winless streak was extended to six games. He's 0-2 with four no-decisions since his last win, on July 2. 

Miley allowed five hits, walked one and struck out four. He surrendered a home run for his third straight starty. 


Braves 2B Jace Peterson hits three-run home run in Sunday's win

(5:19 pm ET) Braves second baseman Jace Peterson went 3 for 4 at the plate during Sunday's 6-2 win over the Phillies.

His biggest hit came when Peterson hit a three-run home run off Adam Morgan in the fifth inning. It was his fourth home run of the season.

Prior to Sunday's win, Peterson was hitting .132 with one RBI in his last 11 games.


Rays' Jake Odorizzi takes no-decision on Sunday

(5:14 pm ET) Rays starter Jake Odorizzi pitched six innings against Boston on Sunday and left the game trailing by a run. 

Tampa rallied and allowed Odorizzi to escape with a no-decision. 

Odorizzi has pitched six innings in each of the last two starts, after failing to go six in the previous four outings. He allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out five. 


Red Sox SP Henry Owens to debut Tuesday at Yankee Stadium

(5:13 pm ET) Red Sox premier pitching prospect Henry Owens is set to make his major league debut Tuesday on the road against the archrival Yankees. 

Owens has been consistent and effective at Triple-A Pawtucket this season despite a 3-8 record. He has allowed a mere 84 hits in 122 1/3 innings, though 56 walks have come back to haunt him.


Braves SP Julio Teheran allows two runs in Sunday's win

(5:10 pm ET) Braves pitcher Julio Teheran scattered eight hits over seven innings of work to earn his seventh win of the season during Sunday's 6-2 win over the Phillies.

Teheran only gave up two runs while not walking a batter and striking out seven. He is now 7-6 with a 4.59 ERA.

Prior to Sunday's win, Teheran had been winless in his last four starts. He has earned a quality start in two of his last three starts.


Phillies SP Adam Morgan allows seven hits in Sunday's loss

(5:05 pm ET) Phillies pitcher Adam Morgan only made one real mistake during Sunday's start against the Braves, but it cost him during the 6-2 loss.

Morgan allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings of work. The lone mistake was giving up a three-run home run to Jace Peterson in the fifth inning. He struck out one and walked three during the outing. Morgan is now 2-3 with a 4.46 ERA.

During his seven starts this season, Morgan has earned a quality start in three of those outings.
