Kevin Kiermaier stays hot atop lineup Saturday

(7:38 pm ET) Making his first start at the leadoff spot Saturday, Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier went 3 for 4 with one walk, one double and three RBI in his team's 10-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Kiermaier took over center field in the third inning Friday after an injury to regular leadoff man Desmond Jennings, and he found himself back in center and leading off Saturday. Now 8 for 11 in his last three games, Kiermaier has hit .310/.345/.581 with eight home runs and 24 RBI in 155 at-bats.


Indians acquire Nick Maronde from Angels

(7:36 pm ET) The Indians have acquired left-hander Nick Maronde from the Angels in exchange for cash considerations, the Los Angeles Times reports Saturday. Maronde posted a whopping 10.50 ERA over 18 innings of relief in the minors for the Angels. In the majors, Maronde posted a 12.79 ERA in 6 1/3 innings.

Jake Odorizzi strikes out seven in win vs. Blue Jays

(7:34 pm ET) Rays pitcher Jake Odorizzi earned a win Saturday, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks in 6 2/3 innings while striking out seven in his team's 10-3 victory over the Blue Jays.

Odorizzi (5-8) has now surrendered three runs or fewer in seven straight starts, and he continues to rack up the strikeouts. He owns an impressive 116:39 K:BB ratio in 101 innings while posting a 4.01 ERA going into the All-Star break.


Drew Hutchison gives up six runs in loss vs. Rays

(7:34 pm ET) Blue Jays pitcher Drew Hutchison too a loss Saturday after surrendering six earned runs on six hits and five walks in 5 1/3 innings and striking out seven in his team's 10-3 defeat against the Rays.

Hutchison (6-8) set a career high for free passes in the loss, with the Rays doing most of the damage during the sixth inning. He's walked multiple batters in five straight games, posting a 30:15 K:BB ratio during that stretch. Hutchison owns a 4.16 ERA and 100:38 K:BB ratio in 110 1/3 innings.


Kolten Wong continues homer barrage Saturday

(7:33 pm ET) Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong went 1 for 5 with a two-run home run in his team's 10-2 victory over the Brewers Saturday.

Wong has been on a power surge since coming off the disabled list, racking up home runs in five of his seven games since his activation. He managed just one home run in 160 at-bats before going to the disabled list. Wong owns a .242/.299/.396 line with six home runs, 24 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 182 at-bats.


David Robertson Ks two in perfect frame for the save

(7:33 pm ET) Yankees closer David Robertson closed out his 23rd save of the season Saturday afternoon against the Orioles in Baltimore.

Robertson struck out two and needed only 11 pitches to retire the side in order to secure a 3-0 victory.He is 23 for 25 in save chances, with a 2.76 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP over 32 2/3 innings of relief.

Tyler Matzek surrenders four runs in loss vs. Twins

(7:30 pm ET) Rockies pitcher Tyler Matzek took a loss Saturday after giving up four earned runs on seven hits and one walk in six innings and striking out two in his team's 9-3 defeat against the Twins.

Matzek (1-4) fell behind early Saturday, giving up a two-run double in the top of the first inning. The Twins would add a third run on a third-inning home run and one more run on a double by the Minnesota starting pitcher in the fourth. Matzek owns a 4.97 ERA and 24:12 K:BB ratio in 41 2/3 innings heading into the break.


Kevin Correia tosses six one-run innings in win Saturday

(7:30 pm ET) Twins pitcher Kevin Correia earned a win Saturday, giving up just one earned run on seven hits and one walk in six innings while striking out one in his team's 9-3 win over the Rockies.

Correia (5-11) has managed to turn in quality starts in six of his last seven outings, though he's jsut 3-4 during that stretch. He managed to help his own cause Saturday, knocking an RBI double in the fourth inning. Correia owns a 4.61 ERA and 50:26 K:BB ratio in 109 1/3 innings.


Chris Tillman tosses quality start in losing effort

(7:30 pm ET) Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman turned in a quality start but was unable to come away with the win Saturday afternoon at home against the Yankees, dropping to 7-5 on the year in his final start before the All-Star break. The right-hander yielded three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four over 6 2/3 innings of work.

Tillman will enter the break with a 4.11 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP over 20 starts (118 1/3 innings). The Orioles have yet to announce their pitching plans after the break.

Adam Wainwright earns 12th win Saturday vs. Brewers

(7:30 pm ET) Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright took a share of the major-league lead by earning his 12th win Saturday, giving up two earned runs on five hits in seven innings while striking out four in his team's 10-2 victory over the Brewers.

Wainwright (12-4) has surrendered just six runs in his last seven starts combined to enter the All-Star break on a roll. He's second in the majors with a 1.83 ERA, and he also owns a 0.91 WHIP and 115:27 K:BB ratio in 138 innings.
