(8:22 pm ET) Cardinals starting pitcher John Gast left Saturday's start in the second inning with shoulder tightness, the team announced. He faced just one batter in the second inning before leaving.

Gast gave up one earned run on one hit and two walks Saturday, giving him a 5.11 ERA with the Cardinals.

Doug Fister bounces back in losing effort
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8:22 pm ET) Tigers starting pitcher Doug Fister turned in a solid performance as he struck out seven but suffered his second loss of the season Saturday afternoon against the Twins.

Fister, who made his 10th start of the season, gave up three runs in the opening frame, including a solo shot to Joe Mauer. The right-hander permitted three runs on eight hits and one walk over eight innings of work in a 3-2 defeat.

Fister has allowed three earned runs or fewer in all five of his starts at home this season. He is scheduled to make his next start Thursday at Pittsburgh. He is 1-1 with a 4.23 ERA in five starts away from home.

Jim Johnson puts trouble behind him for save
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:20 pm ET) Orioles closer Jim Johnson entered Saturday's game against the Blue Jays having gone a stretch of four appearances and over two weeks without a save. However, he had no problem getting back on the wagon, tossing a scoreless ninth in a 6-5 win.

Johnson needed 14 pitches to end the outing, striking out one batter. He picked up his 15 save in 18 opportunities, while lowering his ERA to 3.86.

Pirates tee off on Mike Fiers
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:18 pm ET) Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers' return to the rotation did not go as planned Saturday, as he gave up three home runs in a 5-2 loss to the Pirates.

Fiers did a good job keeping the Pirates off the basepaths, allowing five hits and no walks in four innings, but allowed a home run in three of the four innings. Fiers was tagged for four runs in the game, and he earned the loss in a 5-2 final.

Fiers struck out five batters and was pulled after throwing just 67 pitches. His ERA rose to 6.62, while his record fell to 1-3. He has now allowed 10 runs in nine innings over the course of two starts.

Fiers may not get another chance to start for the Brewers, as Kyle Lohse is aiming to return to the rotation Thursday against the Twins, which would be the next turn for Fiers.

Buster Posey collects three hits in win
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:17 pm ET) Giants catcher Buster Posey picked up three hits in five at-bats Saturday against the Rockies to extend his hitting streak to nine games. He also scored two runs in the game while raising his batting average to .312, a season high for the reigning MVP.

Angel Pagan hits walk-off inside-the-park home run
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:14 pm ET) Giants center fielder Angel Pagan went 2 for 6 in Saturday's extra-innings game against the Rockies, hitting a game-winning inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the 10th.

It was Pagan's third home run, and he's on a five-game hitting streak. He is hitting .262.

Brewers can't get to Jeff Locke
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:13 pm ET) Pirates starting pitcher Jeff Locke continued his impressive season Saturday, improving to 5-1 with a win over the Brewers.

Locke held the Brewers to three hits over six shutout innings. He only allowed runners to reach second base in the first two innings. Locke walked three and struck out seven, while throwing 60 of 100 pitches for strikes.

Locke, who has a 14-inning scoreless streak, has a 2.45 ERA and 1.14.

He will try to continue the streak in his next start Thursday against the Tigers at home.

Rafael Betancourt blows first save
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:11 pm ET) Making his first appearance since Tuesday due to tightness in his groin, Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt suffered his first blown save of the year, walking a batter before allowing a game-ending inside-the-park home run.

Betancourt (1-2) suffered his second loss in May and saw his ERA rise to 2.55 after getting one out before the game-winning hit.

Glen Perkins bounces back with ninth save
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8:09 pm ET) Twins closer Glen Perkins returned to action Saturday for the first time since blowing a save Tuesday at Atlanta. Perkins worked around a one-out infield single to strike out one in a scoreless ninth to secure a 3-2 win over the Tigers.

It was Perkins' ninth save. Perkins, who has a 3.24 ERA, has allowed two runs over his last eight innings. He has struck 13 and walked one over that span.

Juan Nicasio gives up two runs in five innings Saturday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:07 pm ET) Rockies starting pitcher Juan Nicasio surrendered two earned runs on seven hits and a walk in five innings Saturday against the Giants, striking out two while not factoring into the decision.
