Reddick could be reinstated from the disabled list next week. Reddick, who was hitting .152 before going on the disabled list, believes his hitting woes could be strongly connected to his wrist discomfort.

"The best pitching performance we've seen out of him to date," manager Bob Melvin said. "I think he just gained confidence as the game went along."
"I think this can be a jumping off point for him," reliever Sean Doolittle said. "That was pretty impressive."
It's not like Straily was doubting himself after a series of rocky starts since returning from the minors. He only backs up what the numbers say. "The last few times out, I walked people, hit people, hurt myself. I wasn't getting hit hard. I was hurting myself. The whole goal today was go out and fill up the strike zone."
Straily isn't the first high-upside hurler to have a rocky transition to the majors. He also wouldn't be the first to take off once he found his groove. With Brett Anderson potentially out another two months, I'm willing to ride the wave.

There has been a little power in Ethier's recent run, which has included four extra-base hits, but that alone shouldn't be enough to raise expectations for a significant rebound. Ethier has hit 30 home runs just once in his career, and that is now four season ago. While he is hitting flyballs at his highest rate since then, he's not hitting many of them particularly deep.
Ethier is just going through a stretch where he is getting a few additional base hits on balls in play, and eventually his luck will taper off. Then owners will be left with an outfielder who provides a decent batting average and on-base percentage but little else of use outside of deeper leagues. If the Dodgers get desperate to recall Yasiel Puig in an attempt to revive their moribund offense, Ethier would be the most likely outfielder to lose playing time, so there's that to consider as well.

"I was really myself out there," Straily said, per the San Francisco Chronicle. "It felt different. I had confidence to start the game. I was not going to let 'hurting myself' be what happened in the ballgame. The last few times out, I walked people, hit people. I wasn't getting hit hard. I was hurting myself. Tonight, my goal was to fill up the strike zone."
Straily didn't issue a walk and allowed just two hits, and afterward said he's never been more confident in his big-league career.
"Any time you're a young player and not having the type of success you would like to have, yeah, you want to have one of these games where you go out and believe," manager Bob Melvin said. "It would've been nice to give him three, four, five runs for a little breathing room. But who knows? Maybe that's what he needed, an outing where he had to be borderline perfect."

Belt's injury is at a point where he could play if needed, but with the Giants facing a lefty in Gio Gonzalez, manager Bruce Bochy is taking the opportunity to let the back heal up. Brett Pill will get the start in Belt's place

He was the fourth overall pick in last year's draft, so you know his talent is off the charts, and unlike Trevor Bauer, whose quick ascension to the majors last year was marred by terrible control, Gausman knows how to locate his high-90s fastball, issuing 1.0 walks per nine innings in his eight starts at Double-A Bowie this year.
Most likely, it's not just a one-and-done scenario either. The Orioles have struggled to fill the fifth spot in their rotation since Wei-Yin Chen went on the DL with an oblique injury, and even after Chen returns, Gausman will likely stick over Freddy Garcia, provided he meets his end of the bargain.
No one can say for sure if Gausman will live up to his potential right away, but the chances of him emerging as an out-of-nowhere ace make him well worth the gamble in all leagues. He now ranks 62nd at starting pitcher for me (and 44th for Al Melchior).

Making his first start at catcher since Brian McCann returned from the DL May 6, Gattis hit a grand slam Wednesday against the Twins -- this coming on the heels of a pinch-hit go-ahead home run in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday, which itself came on the heels of a pinch-hit go-ahead home run in the bottom the eighth Saturday.
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez has said he'll look for ways to get Gattis' bat in the lineup, and with this most recent surge, I'm guessing he'll be even more invested in the idea going forward, giving occasional days off to each of the Braves' starting outfielders, as well as Freddie Freeman. Gattis won't play every day, but in leagues that require the use of two catchers, he'll remain valuable all year.
