by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6:03 pm ET) Cardinals starting pitcher Jake Westbrook will get a second opinion on his troublesome elbow, like from Dr. James Andrews, MLB.com reports. Westbrook ended a bullpen session early this week.

Westbrook is 2-1 with a 1.62 ERA this season.

Scott Kazmir deals with control issues
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(5:59 pm ET) Indians starting pitcher Scott Kazmir limited the Red Sox to just two runs Saturday, despite early control issues looking like they might derail his start.

Kazmir issued a leadoff walk and another with two outs in the first inning, but was able to emerge from the frame unscathed. He would ultimately walk four batters and allow five hits, but only surrendered two runs in the outing over five innings. He was unable to pitch further into the game, however, as he required 107 pitches to get through those five innings.

Kazmir lowered his ERA to 5.94 in his seventh start, while striking out six batters. He exited the start with a 3-2 lead but ultimately earned a no decision, in a 7-4 loss, as the bullpen fell apart late.

Kazmir is 2-2 on the season, with 14 walks and 36 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings so far.

R.A. Dickey drops another
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(5:50 pm ET) Blue Jays starting pitcher R.A. Dickey lost his sixth game, 6-5 to the Orioles Saturday.

Dickey allowed three runs in the first inning, a two-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the seventh. He allowed nine hits and three walks in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out four, his lowest total in five starts.

Dickey had a three-game quality-start streak end. He is 4-6 with a 4.85 ERA on in 11 starts. Dickey has struck out 57 and walked 31 in 68 2/3 innings.

His next start is Thursday versus the Braves in Atlanta.

Bobby Parnell to pitch ninth inning of suspended game
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(5:48 pm ET) Mets manager Terry Collins said that closer Bobby Parnell will be on the mound when Friday's suspended game resumes in the ninth inning Saturday, the Star-Ledger reports.

Friday's game was suspended due to weather with the Braves and Mets tied 5-5. Parnell will only be used one inning, so that he'll remain available to pitch in Saturday's regularly scheduled game.

Freddy Garcia earns first win
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(5:39 pm ET) Orioles starting pitcher Freddy Garcia was not particularly efficient Saturday against the Blue Jays, but he pitched well enough to earn his first win of the season, thanks to some early offense.

Garcia needed 103 pitches to finish five innings as the Blue Jays racked up nine hits off him. But he was able to scatter those hits to allow just three runs -- two earned.

The Orioles staked Garcia to a 3-0 lead in the first inningof the 6-5 win. Garcia (1-2) has a 4.61 ERA in five starts and next faces the Nationals Thursday.

David Phelps still dealing with forearm soreness
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(5:38 pm ET) Yankees starting pitcher David Phelps had his right forearm in a compression wrap Saturday. He told reporters that it was sore a day after being struck by a line drive in the eighth inning of his start against the Rays.

Phelps is expected to throw a bullpen session Sunday and is listed as the team's probable pitcher Wednesday against the Mets.

"The one thing is he hasn't picked up a baseball yet," Girardi told ESPN.com. "Everyone feels fine when they're not doing anything."

Kevin Youkilis plays in extended spring game
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(5:30 pm ET) Yankees third baseman Kevin Youkilis (back) played three innings at third base in an extended-spring game Saturday morning.

Youkilis finished 2 for 3 with two doubles. Manager Joe Girardi told reporters that Youkilis may join Mark Teixeira on a rehab assignment with Double-A Trenton Wednesday.

"My feeling is he's a couple of innings behind Tex," Girardi said, "but anything is possible."

Teixeira is slated to return as early as Friday. Youkilis may take a few days longer.

Mark Teixeira inching closer to rehab stint
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(5:21 pm ET) Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira (wrsit) played five innings at first base in an extended spring game Saturday morning.

Teixeira finished 1 for 4 with a double and a sacrifice fly in his five plate appearances. He will receive a day off Sunday before playing two more extended spring games in Tampa Monday and Tuesday. Teixeira will then play two rehab games at Double-A Trenton before possibly being activated from the disabled list in time for a weekend series against the Red Sox at home starting Friday.
