Johnson has recorded saves in nine of his last 10 appearances and has given up just one run over that stretch.

Jimenez, who remains 5-4 on the season with the no-decision, walked four batters and threw 114 pitches over 5 2/3 innings as he allowed just two earned runs, both coming in the third inning. He struck out four batters.
Jimenez has gone 2-1 in his last four outings but has mostly pitched well in those starts with just six runs allowed over 21 2/3 innings with 18 Ks. Jimenez is scheduled to make his next start Monday at Baltimore.

Verlander, who falls to 8-5 with the defeat, allowed five earned runs on seven hits and four walks over his five innings. He needed 102 pitches and struck out five batters. Verlander was hurt in the fourth inning by a J.J. Hardy two-run homer. He then gave up a three-run blast to Adam Jones in the fifth.
The Detroit ace had won his previous four consecutive decisions over five solid outings before losing Tuesday's game. He has 106 strikeouts over 92 innings and should be able to bounce right back on Sunday against Boston.

Britton, who had been pitching well at Triple-A Norfolk of late, stated his case to remain in the rotation as he pulled a win for the Orioles. Britton earned his first win of the year as he gave up just a Matt Tuiasosopo solo homer in the fifth inning as the only run he allowed.
The left-handed starter allowed five hits and three walks over 5 1/3 innings. He was pulled relatively early after 93 pitches in favor of Darren O'Day. Britton had one strikeout and his ERA on the year is at 5.56.
His only other start this season before Tuesday came back on April 29 at Seattle. He lost that day with six runs allowed over six innings. The Orioles do not yet have another start scheduled for Britton, who could go right back down to Triple-A Norfolk.

Pestano recorded his second save although he gave up three hits and a walk in the ninth to protect a one-run lead without letting anyone score. He got a strikeout and baserunning error by the Royals. Pestano needed 22 pitches and his ERA is at 4.05.
With Chris Perez on the mend, Pestano's time as closer may be nearing an end.

Santana settled for a no-decision as Kelvin Herrera replaced him in the eighth inning and promptly gave up three runs in the frame to give Cleveland the lead. Santana allowed just one run on three hits and two walks over seven sharp innings. He threw 106 pitches and struck out six.
The 30-year-old Santana has won his last two decisions and has been lights out over a four-start stretch in which he's allowed just three runs over 28 2/3 innings with 20 Ks. Santana doesn't yet have his next outing scheduled, though it is likely to come Tuesday to open a series against Atlanta.

"Matt said he was great today, and we'll push him more tomorrow," Mattingly said. "If that goes good, by the time we leave San Diego [on Sunday], I'm hoping Matt can play in a rehab setting at least three or four days."
Kemp has not been able to run the bases yet, but he will likely try to do so Wednesday. The Dodgers finish a four-game series against the Padres Sunday, so his earliest possible return date appears to be June 27 at home against the Phillies for the start of a four-game series.

Fowler tried to play through the injury Monday, but felt pain while swinging left-handed. Fowler suffered the injury last Thursday.
"The left side is probably a little tougher because on the right side he can probably take his top hand off the bat," Rockies manager Walt Weiss told MLB.com.
Fowler remains day to day due to this injury, but the Blue Jays have a lefty on the mound Wednesday, so Fowler might be able to return to the lineup.
