Iglesias has been taking practice around the diamond, and will get a chance to show whether he can handle the position in a game. Iglesias has hit well in a small sample of games in the majors this season. Through 20 at-bats, he has hit .450/.476/.550.
Marlon Byrd belts third May home run

Marlon Byrd provided all of his team's offense in a 4-3 loss Monday against the Reds with a three-run home run off Johnny Cueto in the third inning. It was Byrd's fourth home run and third in May.
Byrd is batting .343 (12 for 35) with a .657 slugging percentage, 1.026 OPS, two doubles, five runs and nine RBI in 12 May games (nine starts).

because of a knee injury. Casilla, who has dealt with a cyst on his right knee since early May, is 3-2 with a 1.89 ERA and one save in 21 appearances.

the 15-day disabled list. Vogelsong is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after needing surgery because of two fractured bones and a dislocated joint in the pinkie finger of his right hand.
Yasmani Grandal 'concentrating' on getting at-bats

Yasmani Grandal (suspension) is batting .333 (3 for 9) with one double and one RBI through his first three games with Triple-A Tucson.
Grandal's 50-game suspension for testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone ends May 28. He's not sure if the Padres will recall him immediately, but Grandal said his focus is on making sure he's getting his at-bats leading up to his potential recall.
"I've got to get my work in first," Grandal said, per MLB.com. "I'm trying to get as many at-bats as I can here and trying to get a feel for the game again at the upper levels. I think they're going to be enough for me to go up to the big leagues. Whether I go up on the 28th or not, that's all up to [San Diego general manager] Josh Byrnes, I guess. I'm just concentrating on getting at-bats down here."
Yankees outright Alberto Gonzalez to Triple-A

Gonzalez was designated for assignment May 18, and will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Gonzalez started three games for the team after being acquired from the Cubs earlier this season. Though 32 at-bats, Gonzalez is hitting .250/.286/.375.
Dan Uggla still slumping despite hitting HR

Dan Uggla provided a three-run homer in a four-run first inning during Monday's 5-1 win against the Twins. It was his eighth home run and fourth in May.
Unfortunately, Uggla's home run was just his second hit in his last eight games since having a seven-game hit streak end May 9. Uggla is batting .071 (2 for 28) with one double, one home run and four RBI in his last eight games.
Chris Denorfia ties season-high in hits

Chris Denorfia tied a season-high with three hits Monday against the Cardinals. It was the second time this season he managed three hits.
Denorfia has hit safely in four of his last five games, batting .400 (8 for 20) with three RBI. His batting average has gone from .283 to .301 in that span. Denorfia is batting .294 with one double, one home run, six RBI and eight runs in 15 May games (13 starts).
