Astros P Samuel Deduno rocked by Rangers in loss

(11:52 pm ET) Astros pitcher Samuel Deduno's second start of the season was about as poor as it possibly could get. 

In Wednesday's 11-3 loss to the Rangers, Deduno gave up 10 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings pitched. He surrendered 10 hits and walked three batters. Deduno did strike out four. In two starts, Deduno now has a 7.00 ERA. 

Deduno's next start is projected for May 12 against the Giants. 


Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo collects three RBI during Wednesday's win

(11:47 pm ET) Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo drove in three runs to help lead the Cubs to a 6-5 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Rizzo's big hit came when he connected on a two-run home run off Lance Lynn in the third inning. He fished the game 2 for 4 and is now batting .341 on the season.


Rangers P Colby Lewis throws 87 pitches in eight innings

(11:47 pm ET) Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis allowed only one run during Wednesday night's 11-3 victory over the Astros. 

Lewis went eight innings and struck out six batters. He walked one hitter and only threw 87 pitches for the night. Lewis improved to 2-2 with a 2.61 this season. 

His next start is projected for May 11 against the Royals. 


Cubs pitcher Jon Lester earns win in Wednesday's game

(11:43 pm ET) Cubs pitcher Jon Lester earned his second win of the season during Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Cardinals.

Lester tossed seven solid of innings of work, allowing four runs (one earned) on seven hits. He also struck out six batters and walked two. He surrendered a solo home run to Johnny Peralta in the fourth inning.

It was Lester's second-consecutive appearance pitching seven innings and surrendering one earned run or less. He is now 2-2 with a 4.04 ERA on the season.

He is expected to go for his third win of the season Monday against the Mets.


Twins 1B Kennys Vargas hits homer against A's

(11:40 pm ET) Twins first baseman Kennys Vargas connected on a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning of Wednesday night's 13-0 win over the Athletics. 

Vargas' shot drove in Danny Santana and Doug Bernier. It was his lone at-bat of the game after entering the game in the top half of the eighth. Vargas is now hitting .222/.267/.346 for the season. 


Twins OF Eddie Rosario hits first-pitch homer in MLB debut

(11:36 pm ET) Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario hit a solo home run in the third inning of Wednesday's 13-0 win over the Athletics. 

This was Rosario's first major-league game and he swung on the first pitch he saw. The homer came in the third inning and was off of Scott Kazmir. Rosario finished his first-ever MLB game 1 for 4. 


Brewers' Scooter Gennett hits first home run of season Wednesday

(11:35 pm ET) Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett hit his first home run of the season to help lead the Brewers to a 6-3 win over the Dodgers.

Gennett connected off starter Joe Wieland for a two-run home run in the first inning. He was his only hit in five at-bats during the game. He is not hitting .216 on the season and has not had multiple hits in any game this season.


Twins' Eduardo Escobar goes 3 for 4 in win over Athletics

(11:30 pm ET) Twins outfielder Eduardo Escobar had his best game of the 2015 season in Wednesday night's 13-0 win over the Athletics. 

Escobar went 3 for 4 with a two-run homer in the sixth inning and a two-run double in the seventh. He also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the third. Escobar entered the game with five total RBI for the season and doubled his total with Wednesday's output. 

In three games against the Athletics this series, Escobar has gone 6 for 11 at the plate. 

Escobar is now batting .225/.243/.380. 


Brewers' Francisco Rodriguez earns sixth save of season Wednesday

(11:30 pm ET) Brewers pitcher Francisco Rodriguez earned his sixth save of the season when he closed the door on a 6-3 victory over the Dodgers on Wednesday.

During the ninth inning, Rodriguez allowed one hit and struck two in route to a scoreless inning. He now has a 1.64 ERA.


Brewers' Adam Lind smacks home run Wednesday

(11:27 pm ET) Brewers first baseman Adam Lind hit his fifth home run of the season when he connected off Dodgers pitcher Joe Wieland for a two-run home run in the first inning to help send the Brewers to a 6-3 victory.

Lind added a double to finish the game 2 for 4. He is now hitting .323 on the season.
